AFFORDABLE DISNEY using Disney Gift Cards

I'm new to this too, but every great promotion I've seen has been posted on the other thread as soon as it appears it seems. I agree, it's long and confusing but it is so active that if you just follow it for a few days and ask questions here and there you will learn. To get started: #1 Open a Target Red Card. #2 Join a shopping portal site ( I am currently using iConsumer but there are many. Get used to doing all your churning through this portal. So if you are going to buy a Target card off of Ebay, log into whatever portal you choose FIRST, then search ebay and buy your Target card then) #3 Buy a Target gift card for however much you want to learn with ($100 ?), try to get a discount on this card if you can but it's not imperative. I think buying 1 gift card through Raise ( remember to use your portal first ) is safe just once and will give you around 5% off right off the bat. Now you have a $100 Target card you paid $95 for and earned $1-$2 from your portal. So that's a 6-7% discount. You wait for an eBay promo and use the Target card on Target.com (going through your portal!) to buy an eBay card earning 5% red card discount plus 1-2% portal rewards and you keep going back and forth. Make sure you are signed up to receive ebay promos and when they have a 3x/4x/5x promo on extra bucks. Normally ebay gives you 2% ebay bucks on each purchase but during these promos it will be 6-8, or 10%. That's when the real churners buy and make lots of $$$ on ebay bucks.
Thank you!!!!!! I really appreciate you breaking it down like this. I understand it's a complex process with lots of moving parts, but this was exactly what I was looking for!!!

Let me start by saying that: YES!!! The rumors are true! You CAN use Disney gift cards, and it can save a substantial amount of money for your trip.

This is no doubt common knowledge to many of us by now, so many posts on here touch on the subject. This is, after all, where I got a lot of my initial information on using GCs to pay for a Disneyworld trip. I was, like many of you, looking for ways to save money for our upcoming Disney trip (come on, September!). But much of what I saw just confused me even more.

Some posts for explaining about using Disney Visa and rewards points. Others were using gas cards to earn points that saved money that translated into savings for their trip. For me, it was a bit overwhelming, but the gift card idea seemed to make sense. So, I explored it a little bit more; here's what I found.......
(more to follow in the upcoming posts)

We can confirm this as well. We bought ours through Target, using their new Target Debit Card (ties into your checking account, and you get 5% discount off of anything purchased with it). I want to say we ended up buying $750ish worth of cards, basically for our spending money for us and the kids (non-meals, etc). $40 is $40. :-)

What I do is earn Target gift cards from Perk and Swagbucks, then I go through Mypoints to access Target and order my Disney and other gift cards (Starbucks, Papa John Pizza, Netflix, etc) use my gift cards and red card. I get 2 points per dollar spent through mypoints and save 5% off total Target. I could save a few $$ by getting paypal instead of the Target gift cards, then ordering Target cards from Cardpool, but I like getting the first gift card from Swagbucks for 2200 points instead of 2500.

Happy savings to all.

In my points it says you won't receive points for buying gift cards. Have you gotten them anyway?

With Mypoints, you will not get points if you buy Target gift cards. Since Target has most of their gift cards classified as entertainment, we are entitled to the points. Yes, I get the points. I don't remember if I mentioned it or not, but on Mypoints, they have videos you can watch to earn points. You get one point per video, maximum 75 points from videos daily. That makes it add up quickly.

So, if you were going to pay $3500 for a Disney trip (inc. resort, tickets, food & souvenirs), how much would you save by churning? TIA!

And how much time spent daily? TIA!

No one can really tell you that because it really depends on each individual, their strategy and how much they invest up front. I've invested $2,034.40 since mid-Feb and have $3150 in Disney GCs if I converted all of my Target GCs and rewards today. Less than $50 of that is from means other than simple churning (watching videos on SB, points from "other" online shopping, etc). I'd say for the minimum amount of time I've spent on this (most of which has been participating in the other thread and keeping track of everything), it has paid off handsomely. Now if you start by earning free GCs through SB/Perk, you're obviously going to invest more time.

Thanks so much for the info! Sounds like I have time to make some Disney $$ before our November trip then! :)

What does SB/Perk mean?

What does SB/Perk mean?

SB = Swagbucks, a rewards/rebate site. You can earn points for more gift cards when you make purchases or you can do things that earn points (watch videos, take surveys, free trials, etc.) I've got most of mine by making Target GC purchases on eBay, but I've done a small amount of other online shopping too.

Perk is I believe a TV app (?) that gives you points. Someone else will have to comment on that as I've never used it or even checked it out.

Thanks for breaking this down so simply. When you buy Target gift cards on eBay-are you using GCM? I'm thrown a bit by the $2.99 shipping since that cuts into the savings.

If I am so lucky to figure this churn thing out, can I ask how you manage having all these Disney GC's at the end? Do you consolidate them first into one big card or do you bring them all to Disney in an envelope? It makes me nervous thinking about carrying so much "cash" around. Does Disney let you pre-pay if you don't have a package?

I just read this thread for ha ha's.... it is has EXACTLY the same info as the other thread. I see that OP thought it might be simpler, but it's actually more confusing
