Aerosols On Planes

Are the aerosols made today (shaving foam etc) still a potential problem if stored in checked baggage (ie:aircraft hold pressure) ?

I use an aerosol deodorant, and I had no trouble with it when I flew. I do pack it in a Ziploc bag just in case (I do that with all of my toiletries)

I had a couple of small cans of Lysol spray and had no problems with them as carry-ons and checked in bags/luggages.

I had my hairspray leak once all over a jacket. Now I use zip-lock bags for all toiletries.

When we flew US Airways on August 29th to St Thomas,USVI they pulled out the Cockroach Spray (aerosol) and the 'Pam' we bought to oil our pans in the condo.They left a note that said Combustable Aerosols were not allowed.

I am glad you asked. I wanted to know this. I have flown before with arosal things (hair spray etc..)

I found this sun screen I love and I wanted my Niece to bring it with her when she was meeting us on a vacation we drove too, but she was flying too. We were on an Island that was hard to get to and my brother said they wouldn't allow it checked on the plane. I thought that was nuts.

I am now wondering if we can bring it with us when we fly to WDW in Jan. It works really well and I just love it. I guess maybe I will have to bring some with me.

I have shaving cream (2 small cans, one for hubby one for me) with me every time I fly. I have never had a problem with it. The last time I have flown was May 2005

According to the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration), personal care or toiletries with aerosols (hairspray, deodorant) are allowed in limited quantities in either carry-on baggage or checked luggage. I guess individual airlines may have their own rules.

my dh (the real PhD, chemist) thinks that ones like shaving cream are not combustable (sorry can't spell) but my sun screen or hair spray would be so if they found it they would take it out. Maybe if it was small enough they would ignore it.

Cockroach Spray, tends to be rather bug (you know those big bugs ) so that might be why it was flaged. (however brining it to St Thomas, sounds like a good plan. You must of been bummed when you opened your luggage.

Did they pull this out of checked bags or carry-ons ?
