Have called our airline twice today and have been told two different things. First was told that no we can't check things like shaving creme or hairspray in our checked luggage. Second time was told yes it's not a problem :confused3 It seems you can't even get a straight answer out of the airlines and I don't know which rep to believe. Just don't want to have a pressurized can in my luggage and have it explode on the plane or luggage searched because it wasn't supposed to be there. And yes I know you can't take it on board ---I always have before and never had to worry about it being in the checked luggage so that's why I'm wondering. Thanks :sunny:

Since it isn't up to the airlines, you're better off calling TSA. They're the ones who make the rules, change them, and enforce them.

The rule of thumb now is don't carry-on anything you will not use while in the airplane.

I would check your airline and TSA website. It hasn't been a problem in the past in your checked luggage so I doubt it is now.

The airlines can augment them also. IE: The TSA can say they allow corkscrews, but, any particular airline can say no. Not sure how they can enforce it, but, they can do it.

The TSA say yes you can. But, in limited quantites.
Another place to check is your airlines website. They often print what is allowed and what is not allowed.
I agree with Bicker's thoughts on this, if you don't need it on the plane, don't carry it on.

Thanks everyone--but I'm not asking if I can carry this on the plane ---I know you can't now.

I posted this because I have already contacted my airline twice now and have gotten two different answers --yes and no. So which is it is what I am wanting to know. If we can't take shave cream for instance in the checked luggage then this poses a problem for us as we won't be able to stop at a grocery store with ME.

It says nothing about this on either my airlines website or the TSA website.

Thanks for the help!! :)

Check them.
I have checked my hairspray for years. Never had an issue. Never had them "leak" explode etc. If it makes you feel better put them in ziplocks to prevent leaks, but check them.

Have a great trip

(Calling your airline is a waste of time, as Bicker points out they don't screen and the folks in India don't care LOL!)

Well, actually it is. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1012.shtm

Go to the prohibited list and it will give you a list of what you can take. Aerosol cans are listed. They are allowed.

The list indicates that the *only* aerosol cans permitted are for "personal care", but this seems to be interpreted fairly loosely. Two weeks ago I was allowed to carry on a medium sized aerosol can of bug spray, which one might not immediately think of as a "personal care" item.

As far as I know, the new restrictions on "liquids and gels" don't appear to impact this.
