Finally on tour again this summer!

Figured there might be others here who go to see them and thought it might be fun to see what everyone gets.

Saw them this week in Mansfield, MA. It was my kids' first concert, they loved it. :goodvibes (Yeh, it was interesting explaining to them what that funny smell was, LOL.)

They played with The Dropkick Murphys. :shamrock: (LOUD)

I was pretty far away and didn't get anything spectacular (which may be a bit of an understatement ;) ), but a few that were decipherable. I was actually pretty close to an LCD screen so got some "close ups" that way.

Here was the review w/ video link: http://www.bostonherald.com/entertainment/music/general/view.bg?articleid=1179410

Technically: all were handleld; I used my 18-180 (still pining for that 70-200 f/2.8), Aperture Priority, and cranked the ISO. Shot in RAW with minimal editing. Lighting was difficult at times, and of course, lots of movement from both the band and the folks in front of me. But still, I had fun.

Wanna see em?

Very Cool Photos!!! Those guys sure are old. Then again, I saw them in concert in the early 80's, so I suppose I'm right there with them.

Man, that takes me back. They were very popular when I was in college (1974). The only place I'll be rocking in another 35 years is in a chair!

I'm going when they come to Houston. Pretty sure the ticket says no cameras though...

Pretty darn good! Really like the ones of them surrounded by the crowd. Aerosmith puts on an awesome show. I remember being shocked how raunchy Steven Tyler is and that's saying a lot considering I'd seen Motley Crue and Ozzy before them.:rotfl2:
I doubt I'd be able to get a camera in here. When we went to see Kenny Wayne Sheperd they wanted to take out cel phones.

someone has to say it.... that dude looks like a lady...

I saw them first around 1976. The detox twins were in full effect back then. I wanted to take my daughter but I think tix are all gone. Thanks for sharing the pictures and almost bringung back some memories!

Those pictures came out really good! The only time I've seen Aerosmith was on Rockin' Rollercoaster! Sounds like a great show:)
I went to see Bruce Springsteen at Gillette Stadium last summer. The tickets said no cameras/video allowed- I stuck my p&s in my pocketbook anyway but DH saw it and said what are you going to do if they won't let it in? So I left it home. Do you know at least 1/2 the people in the stadium had cameras! No dslr's but LOTS of p&s's.

Yeh, count me in among those who first enjoyed Aerosmith back in jr high school in the early 70's.

Believe it or not, though, they have a whole new generation of fans thanks to Guitar Hero. (My kids' 5th grade yearbook lists Aerosmith along with Jonas Brothers as their favorite bands.) We don't have Guitar Hero, but my kids both play guitar. I love what Joe Perry said about it the other night. "I hate that *$% game. There's nothing like the real thing!" (I thought he stole the show, btw.)

I admit I didn't notice the fine print, but I agree, just about everyone had either cameras or camera phones and were shooting freely. I shot out in the open, near ushers and security people, and nobody said anything. (Mods, if this is an "illegal" thread, my apologies, and please feel free to close it.) ETA it's interesting in this day of technology - just go to You Tube and you can pull up an entire video of live concerts, not just pictures.

I'm going to post some more now that I'm home.

Thanks for posting these! DH mentioned that they are playing Seattle when we will be there in August. I think he would like to go BUT it's grass seating only and I hate to think of how that might feel after touring all day :rolleyes1

But it might be great opportunity missed and he did go to see Fleetwood Mac with me this March....

Glad your kids enjoyed it too!

They did a lot of songs from Toys in the Attic, but I was bummed they didn't do You See Me Crying, one of my favorites.

A little trivia

The main guitar associated with Joe Perry is the Gibson Les Paul. He has used many different types of Les Pauls since the 70s, including Les Paul Juniors, Les Paul Standards, and Les Paul Customs. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Gibson issued a Joe Perry signature Les Paul guitar; this guitar was customized with an active mid-boost control, black chrome hardware, and a translucent black finish. However, in 2004, this model was replaced by another Joe Perry signature Les Paul, the Joe Perry Boneyard Les Paul. This guitar is characterized by Perry's custom "Boneyard" logo on the headstock and a figured maple top with a green tiger finish, and is available with either a stopbar tailpiece or a Bigsby tailpiece; Perry typically uses a Bigsby-equipped Boneyard model in Aerosmith and solo live shows. The Gibson Joe Perry was a present from his wife Billie and then he was allowed to manufacture it. Perry has also endorsed an affordable replica version of the Boneyard guitar made by Epiphone that carries the same USA made Burstbucker pickups as the Gibson model.

Perry also uses other Gibson models. Another model he uses frequently is a customized Gibson B.B. King "Lucille" guitar; however, instead of the black finish and "Lucille" signature on the headstock, Perry's guitar features a white finish, a "Billie Perry" signature on headstock and an image of Billie Perry on the front of the guitar. He has also used Gibson SGs, Firebirds, ES-175s, ES-335s, and ES-350s at various points in his career.

You should go!!

They totally did.

Funny story. DD11 saw everyone walking by with "slushes" in big, long glasses and decided she'd like one, too. So DS11 walked her up to get one. She came back in tears saying they wouldn't give her one, they had alcohol in them. Yeh, going to concerts with kids is a lot different than going with friends, LOL.
