aeroplan v. air miles

I am sitting here looking at Aeroplan for various dates in Feb to Orlando and they want 75,000 points..for 2. Should be 50,000. The only way I can find 50 is certain dates and w/Star Alliance and I must be willing to make a stop enroute (Washington ugh) on the S/B flt.

I have Avion too..have never tried redeeming? What do you do, pick your flights and they buy them? I think I have about 70,000? Is that enough?

We have Airmiles. The thing I hate about Airmiles is that you can't look to see what flights are available. You have to phone Airmiles and talk to someone and go with what they suggest. I'm trying to book us a flight to DL and right now they are trying to route us via Calgary. Not a smart move in December. Hotels are the same - haven't book a hotel but would be nice to see availability and airmile point amounts.

It is 30,000 for each ticket for Avion, last time I checked. The good thing about Avion is that their points system doesn't vary.

I find Aeroplan great within Canada and short haul routes into the US. It is usually not so great to go to Orlando in prime time.

Connecting through Calgary isn't so bad. A couple of years ago, they couldn't book us from Calgary (they limit the seats from your point of origin) but booked us from Edmonton, connecting in Calgary?? Called Westjet and they said to just ignore the Edmonton flight and get on and off in Calgary.

Does anyone know if you can use airmiles for a hotel on Disney World property which also has benefits such as extra magic hours, etc.? Especially the value resorts? I couldn't find this on the airmiles website, but thought that I'd read about someone doing this.

I haven't heard of airmiles being redeemable for Disney owned hotels. Perhaps you read about someone using DVC points to book a hotel. Airmiles might be able to be used on some of the hotels up near International Circle???? by Downtown Disney - however they are not Disney owned hotels.

I also remembered seeing something about using airmiles for WDW resorts so I looked thru a few old airmiles magazines. There was a listing showing WDW resorts starting at 750 airmiles in the spring/summer 2007 mag. I did try searching the website when I first saw this and could never find anything more on it and kinda forgot about it.

I could be wrong but I believe that the only way to redeem airmiles for Disney hotels is to buy a package through Airmiles.

By coworker has just redeemed her Airmiles for Best Western gift certificates which she can use at the Downtown Disney Hotel. This seemed like a good deal.

You can book a package through Airmiles (Holiday House) and use airmiles to pay for it.

You can also book a package through Marlin Travel and redeem Airmiles for Marlin travel vouchers and pay for the package that way.
