I just tried booking our flights for February 2014 with aeroplan points and there is no availability. Well more open up? I thought I had lots of time!

Aren't you too early?

No, not too early. I booked our February flights a month ago. But yes, the odds are more will open up. Unfortunately you'll have to keep checking everyday. It's quite a process to book with Aeroplan!

I agree with the pp. More flights will open up. I too booked our flights last month to Orlando. Started looking on the day that we could first book and then checked back everyday for a couple of weeks before I was able to find a flight for 4 using economy points. Now I just need to find my return flight. Good luck!

More flights MIGHT open up. I wanted to book flights for 3 of us using points for travel in early December. I started looking in late December. By the end of February there was still very limited availability for the flights that we wanted. I ended up having to book using a higher number of points. Orlando is a very popular place to travel so getting there on points can be difficult if you have certain travel requirements (like not travelling through Chicago or not having too many segments).

I have never had problems before and thought if I started early I would get them no problem. I want direct too which is part of the problem. I will keep checking every day to see what I can get if anything.

you almost need to check daily. The last time we used points to travel to Orlando, I booked about 10 months out and wasn"t thrilled with our connections. But i needed 4 seats and got scared that nothing would be available, so I booked them. Then about 4 months later, all kinds of seats opened up. Ya just never know.

Just a FYI, I booked 5 direct flights from Toronto to Orlando for late next March on A/C.

did you book them with points??
I ended up finding some from monday to monday but wanted saturday to saturday :(

Yes, booked with points, 25,000 each.

what dates did you book? I can get monday-tuesday but really wanted weekend flights. wondering if i should book now and change flights later (not sure what fees are?!) or if i should wait.

if we stay onsite it wont matter but if we rent a place they most likely will want weekend check in.

I *think* the fees are $90 per ticket. If you change both legs of the trip that's $180. Per person. In addition to the tax you've paid.

I booked the weekend, Friday through Monday. March 21 - 24.

Yes, the fees to change/cancel are $90 but essentially $101.70 with taxes.

You only pay the change/cancellation fee once for your return trip, not for each leg. You will always get your taxes back if you cancel so they are not an expense if you cancel.
