I am fussing over every detail and of course the one bugging me I have no control over. My airline tickets were done on aeroplan points and the flights got change a few months back. No biggie but the flight han had me leaving for Orlando before I left home. Because I had a flight eliminated the only option was to overnight me in Edmonton the night before. They offered to cover the room which made me say yes. I have a few friends I may be able to meet up with and the more relaxed travel day the next day works out just as well.

My question is does anyone have expierance with them setting up the overnight hotel stay? One lady said someone would contact me and another said I pic vouchers up at the airport. The voucher part confuses me because shouldn't one book things ahead of time? If they contact me how far ahead should i make sure they do? Thanks

no experience with what you're dealing with but just wanted to say have a good trip and hope you get it all worked out.

Don't let some lady on the phone tell you that there will be vouchers at the airport! She's not going to be there for you to complain to if no vouchers are forthcoming and you end up sleeping in an airport chair with one eye open to be sure nobody steals your stuff! Seriously, getting vouchers often means standing in a long slow-moving line of people who have unforeseen travel problems... and if you just say "Well, Aeroplan said they'd cover my stay," I don't think vouchers will be forthcoming.

I think you should get back on the phone with Aeroplan. Ask WHEN someone will contact you. Don't set off without knowing where you're going to spend the night, and without vouchers to prove it!

I got a slightly clearer picture. The agent put me on hold to verify. They will get in touch with me 3 weeks before and book everything with reservations. The theory being sometimes flights get put back on. The vouchers cover of food cost etc and will be waiting for me at check in. So I will sit tight for a few weeks and then call if they don't.

It isn't peak season for travel and it will be a weekday. I know the airport inns are never full so I know worse comes to work I could pay. Not going to let this ruin my trip or stress me out to much I just like to plan.
