Hi guys. I also posted this in the Pop Century FAQ thread, but thought I'd ask over here on the family board:

I wonder if I could pick all your brains for a minute. For those of you who have toddlers, or have traveled with them, has anyone tried to use the Aerobed for Kids in a Pop/value room?

DS3 is much too big for a pack n play crib. I have requested bed rails for one of the beds, but he sleeps like a fish out of water! Don't know who he got that from! ;)

At any rate, I know most likely, he'd end up picking me or DH to sleep with, and I'm not sure how well this is going to work. He's very good about sleeping in his toddler bed at home so I don't want to go backwards on vacation, KWIM?

Anyway, here's a link to it as well, perhaps some of you experts could take a look and tell me if you think it's worth it. It seems to have excellent reviews.

Aerobed for Kids

Sorry if this has already been addressed, the search function isn't working for me. :goodvibes

You could probably cram it in there, but it would be a tight fit.

A Readybed is smaller (and cheaper -- got mine for $25). My Ds often sleeps in one when we travel.

How old is your DS? Ours is three, I am worried the ready bed might be too old for him, or that he may fall off? What do you think, in your experience, and thanks! :thumbsup2

We put a twin size aerobed on the floor of POP last January. We just moved the table. No problems fitting it in the room.

My DS is now 7 and has been using it since he was 4. I doesn't have the crater effect that the aerobed has, but since it's on the floor, I don't think you'd have falling-off trouble. It's like a really nice air mattress, and it has it's own sleeping bag and built in pillow. Only issue I've had is that the covering is nylon, and it drove my husband nuts one night when DS kept shifting in his bed and making the nylon against nylon sound. You use a foot pump to pump it up and deflate it and it fits into its own carrying bag.

It's smaller and would definitely fit in the POP or the value hotels.

My son loves his and thinks its a fun treat to sleep in it.

Excellent, thank you. I'm thinking if you were able to fit a twin size, then the kid one shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the description! Now I just have to decide which of the two we would prefer to have. I'm a little torn because the good thing about that aerobed is that it holds up to 150 pounds, so I know we'd get a lot of future use out of it. I'll have to check on the ready beds and see what their weight limit is.

Did you find the foot pump for the ready bed easy to use?

The foot pump is very easy to use.

The kids' aerobed doesn't look long enough to hold a 150 pound person! From the picture, the child seems to take up most of the space.

I do have an aerobed, full size, and like it. But it's alot heavier and high tech than the readybed.

Maybe the thought there is it will hold a lot older child? I highly doubt I'd be able to fit myself onto that thing, but I could always try. :rotfl:

The one reason I lean towards it is because it has those raised edges, and although the ready bed is close to the floor, it can still be very jarring if they roll of it. DS has rolled out of his toddler bed, even though it has those half bed rails.

Now, I know, we could plop him one of the doubles in the room and try to get him to zonk off without one of us and DH and I could try to share a double, but :scared1: Our bed at home is a queen, and DH likes to stay up a little bit later on vacation. He's quiet and all, but he'll watch TV later, and I just don't know if I'd want to have to deal with that.

What's the lesser of two evils? Awake DH or squirmy toddler? :rotfl2:

It's been a few years since my son was 3 but I remembering pushing the double bed against the wall at All Sports, pushing the little end table up to it and taking the chair and pushing that also against the bed. I then lined that edge with pillows and after being out at the parks all day he slept like a log. My son would wake up upside down and also experienced night terrors where he would wake up in crying fit but not really be awake (we had security from a hotel (not Disney) call us once cause he was crying so bad) and we never had a problem at a Disney hotel!

It is so tough when they "wake" up, but they're not really awake. We've had that experience a couple of times, and we've had to try to sooth him back to sleep. The only unfortunate thing about Pop is I believe the beds are bolted to the floor, so there's no option of moving them. But thank you for the suggestion! :)

I can't say in regards to a Pop room, as I've never seen one, but we LOVE our Aerobed for Kids! It just feels 'sturdier' and more 'plush' to me than the other types I've seen. Our dd#1 has used it for a couple years now, and we will certainly use it again with dd#2. In fact, we haven't yet ruled it out for our September trip (staying at CSR). We'll take our bedrails (we're driving, so it's just as easy to simply take ours) and see how that goes, but we'll likely take the Aerobed too, just in case (dd#2 is still in her crib now, 2yo this month).

HTH a bit!

Thanks for the great review! When is your September trip?

Edit: Sorry, I just saw your ticker! Looks like we'll be there at the same time. Where are you staying?

Love the kids aerobed! Have it used it for years with ds, and now dd is using it. Its really taken a beating too (kids jumping on it) and have never had a problem. It goes with us whenever we travel.

I also used the ready beds and didnt like them as much (though theyre much more compact). Took forever to pump it up, and both kids would roll off the side. Their head would be off the edge while the rest of their body would be inside. Now they do make one that has bolsters on the side (got it for dd when she was 1.5 yrs) and it worked a bit better.

Thanks for your review. One of the reasons I really keep coming back to the kids aerobed is those raised edges. I know it'll really help keep DS in. Have you ever used it at a value resort?

We're giving Coronado Springs a try this time!

Well, I've heard they have an excellent food court, and that pool looks awesome! I hope you enjoy it, perhaps we'll wave to each other in one of the parks since we'll be there at the same time. ;)

FYI for the OP: The beds and nightstand at Pop Century are built in and can't be moved. Just in case you haven't stayed there previously!

We have the toddler aero bed and love it. DS5 probably could still fit on ot but now that's he's not so much of a thrasher we trust him in the pullout couch or the second bed in the hotel rooms. We used ours plenty of times. It was just the right size for a cruise ship cabin or for the floor at All Stars. It also makes a great slide if you prop it up against a hotel bed. I'd never do it at home but it made the hotel room more fun for my son. Super sturdy.

Thanks, I did know that, hence my concern about where it would fit.:goodvibes

Thanks for the good review. Where did you end up putting it in your All Stars room?:)

We have 4 of the Pooh toddler readybeds and they come with a battery operated pump. The pump does the big job then DH blows up the last bit. My kidlets used them for several family funerals that were way out of town and I loved how compactly they packed. Each had its own bag that held extra batteries, the cover and attached blanket, a small travel pillow that we bought and the pump.

The toddler bed has the bolsters along the sides which really didn't keep the kids from rolling around. We would come out in the morning to find one kid across the room under a table, but that is better than falling off a standard bed.

We don't know if we will still be able to use the readybeds for our next trip when the kids are 4 since they are getting pretty tall for them. But I will probably invest in the larger sized version because we have been pleased with how these work.
