Aerasol can of deodorant in Carry On?

Can a man carry a full size aerasol can of deodorant in a shaving kit in a carry on? I can't find a small size one.

ETA - they are specifically mentioned on the TSA site:

All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in 3.4 ounce (100ml) or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be 3.4 ounces (100ml) or smaller.

Dud - reality is it's not getting through if over 100 ml . . . you will have a choice of "voluntarily surrendering" it or not flying - nothing is "confiscated." But you will fly knowing your sacriifce has done all travellers following you a big service . . . one or more Airport Security Screener will smell better!

Yes they will confiscate it - it happened to me. I don't know what I was thinking (I was thinking along the same lines as Duds I guses - that it wasn't a liquid) - just had it in my carry-on & they detected it on the x-ray.

OMG this happened to DH on our last trip 3 years ago and I still haven't heard the end of it! They threw it out and DH had to buy stick from one of the shops. He nearly had a conniption and he blamed me! All I kept saying for months prior to our trip was 3oz! A can of Right Guard is not 3oz..DUH! We are trying to plan a trip for this August and since airfare is so much, we are debating driving, the first words out of his mouth were..at least I can bring my deodorant!

For those few of us that still do prefer aerosol deodorant - if anyone knows a place that sells a trial size, or any size smaller than 3.4 oz. please post! I've never seen anything other than the regular size aerosol cans.

They took mine. I don't know if that is always the case but they took that and my larger than trial size shampoo and conditioner as well.

I am almost certain Harmon's has trial size everything. I found 3 oz aerosol sunscreen sprays there and I was so thrilled! I would think if it's made, they would be the ones to have it.

I realize that some people don't fly very often. However, the rules about liquids in carry-ons have been in place for almost 5 years. You'd think that a friend or relative would warn a new flyer about the rules for flying with liquids, OR that the flyer would check the airline's web site about baggage-related issues.

Several of the products that TSA doesn't permit are not obviously liquids. The packaage contents are listed as "net weight" in ounces and grams indicating not a liquid measure. Is it a wonder there is confusion?

ETA: Blogger Bob and his minions will tell you that TSA does not "confiscate" stuff . . . it is "voluntarily surrendered" so a passenger may fly. This is legalistic mumbo-jumbo and deception to preserve the fiction that the Airport Security Screening is not a 4th Amendment violation.

Not at all. You can't compare the two. The issue isn't the chemicals in a tube of toothpaste or a bottle of shampoo. These items themselves are not considered unsafe to be in the passenger compartment of a plane. The ban was put in place because of the 2006 plot uncovered in the UK by terrorists of bringing on board liquid explosives. I guess someone thought if each passenger could only bring a quart sized baggie of liquids on, they couldn't smuggle enough explosives on the plane. True or not? Who knows.

While they don't currently carry aerosol deodorant (other than Axe) they do have a lot of other items I need - and they even have salon brand hair items in travel sizes!
