This morning, new maps were placed in the bus stops at OKW.

They show the location of buildings, pools and bus stops around the resort. In addition, they have the locations of AED devices at the resort.,

AED stands for Automatic External Defibrillator, a lifesaving device now available in a portable system.

There are security alarms on the device box- warning people that the system should be used only by trained personnel, but they are found in the bus stop shelters and other spots around the resort.

These devices are a great addition and I assume they will be found in all WDW resorts. Hopefully, they will never need to be used, but their presence certainly indicates a strong commitment to safety and life-saving equipment around WDW.

Thanks doc for that very important info. My wife being a nurse, its great that it is available. Hopefully they will not be needed. dave

thanks for the update Rob!!! -Cris

If you can follow directions, most anyone can use an AED (or an EAD as DVC seems to be calling them). The warning about only trained people using them is probably just a result of over-active lawyers.

The devices are designed to only shock if a shockable rhythm is present - about the only risk I can see would be if someone happened to be touching the patient during the time that the shock was applied.

Glad to see DVC being proactive in this area.

Sounds good to me. Both my wife and I were EMT's in New York and have been trained on them and used them before. The newer ones are really easy to use.
