[ADVISORY] WDW - MagicBand-Only Testing Begins at Disney's Pop Century Resort

Nice!

In defense of the The Hub...maybe all of our resident CM board members had access to this information before The Hub posted it. Who cares? Because that information wasn't shared. The rest of us didn't know this information existed. The fact is The Hub is sticking his/her neck out to try to keep the rest of the board informed in a way that other CM members haven't. To be clear...I don't blame anyone else here for not C&Ping from the Hub...I assume that those CM board members don't enjoy the same level of anonymity at work that The Hub has. Clearly, whoever is behind The Hub is potentially putting his/her job on the line here, and I for one appreciate it. As far as I've seen, The Hub has never once acted like s/he has any special access to any information not readily available to any other CM, but the difference between The Hub and everyone else is the fact that s/he found a way to share that while still protecting himself. So bravo to whoever is behind the screen name.

:thumbsup2

This disturbs me a lot. An unhappy and not well trained workforce will kill WDW faster than anything else. And this is not the first time I've heard this complaint about the workforce, Pete from the Dis Podcast also indicates that the CM's are grumpy and not well trained.

The more I see Iger cutting back on training and maintenance so he can pad the profits (and in return generate a bigger bonus and golden parachute) the more disappointed I am with him. That guy cannot retire soon enough in my book.

For me, it was disheartening to hear that they have done it AGAIN. About 10 years ago, they cut so far back it wasn't funny. It's no wonder that Disney seems to be going down-hill so fast. If you drop your front line training, the people your guests see, you'll never do well.

I have seen these people but I doubt that the vast majority are that clueless. I suspect that most people fall somewhere between us who try to know everything and people who don't have a clue.

As for those people you know who are going to WDW this week, are they staying onsite? If so didn't they get magic bands? If they are offsite it's not necessary for them to know about MB's and FP+.

I dont think everyone is so clueless- but i think the vast majority doesn't know that the other hotels are still getting FP-. They'll just assume everyone got nuked and so everyone gets FP+ only.

The coach's family is going to coronado springs. No idea why they didn't get bands yet.

I can only assume disney didn't email or mail them a letter offering the test. Very likely - we have 2 back to back stays (one for cash ressie, second on DVC points) - and only got an email and a letter about the DVC points reservation. For whatever reason the cash reservation (which is the first) they never bothered to notified us (and the bands are shipping like now...)

WOW! WOW! WOW! I really shouldn't say anything more, because it will either get me a warning or head towards closing down thread. (which HAS been very helpful for many people!!!)

All I'll defend is "The Hub" The Hub has never pretending to be an official Disney rep, but instead has shared "REAL" and "CORRECT" information to others and has done their best to keep things on facts!!!

How dare you and your holier-than-thou persona come on here and trash what they have done.

Glad you had all the answers before everyone, to bad you just don't GET IT!!!

WOW!!!

WHOA! While I do (VERY MUCH) appreciate what The Hub has been sharing, I do get where Delmar is coming from also. OMG! Can I actually hold two conflicting thoughts of understanding in my head...!?!?!?! ;)

She, too, has been very helpful. She also is keeping her mouth shut because it is what she is supposed to do. Disney doesn't want CMs or their spouses sharing insider information. When I first read this, my thoughts were: "Holy Crap! That is not supposed to be posted!!" But boy, was I ever glad it was! Of course, people planning trips need to know certain things. I'm not staying at The Pop, but this is helping to put things in perspective for me. It keeps me informed. It helps me make better decisions. It gives me a plan B, or plan C. I need that.

I just wish the animosity going on around here would subside. This is all highly charged. There are the apologists. There are the haters. There are the doubters. There are the realists. Can't we all just get along?

My (probably wrong) thoughts were that The Hub was a regular CM poster on here who set up a second account in order to post information that was needed to guests and not being released. That he/she knew that it wasn't allowed, but felt the need to any how. I'm glad.

LMAO! He/she is a (frustrated?bored?annoyed?) CM pretending to be an official Disney rep. Which is a violation of so very many rules of their job. They want to post advisories, fine. They want to start spouting off how other CM feel about guests and how they talk about them? Then they've crossed the line because of how they are presenting their self.

And nice to know that all the users that have been keeping this board up to date and informed were just wasting their time because they didn't post threads called advisories. FWIW, I warned people back in Oct that this was coming and I knew what resort it was going to happen to well over a week before the hub posted this. I wasn't free to share that specific information so I didn't. I'm glad someone felt more free to post it so people knew about it before being blindsided. I also don't share the specific troubles the front lines are really dealing with because it will do nothing to help plan a Disney vacation. There is no rhyme or reason to why these issues are cropping up so no reason to waste time speculating about them or to moan and groan over them.

The advisories are simply FAQs from the real HUB, complete with the Q&A parts. Anyone with a log in has access to this information so I'm glad you are appreciative over their excellent cut and paste skills.

ahhhh- sorry- now i understand.

the Hub is edward snowdon of WDW...

needling from both sides aside- why can't Disney just post the FAQ themselves- wouldn't that solve all of this? If it's becasue they think their plans are so unfair that a good protion of people will be angry when they dind out the facts then probably the plan is no good.

pull the band aid.

Someone told me that my name had been mentioned in here in association to a post I made on Twitter about the possibility of more resorts joining the rollout in December. I think you guys know that I post links to the threads when I've used them as a source. I was sent that via email, but it is possible that the person received it from this thread or from the actual Hub. Certainly no intention to take someone's work.
This news has actually been a rumor for a while. So far it is only that so who knows where all of it comes from. I also appreciate that you share news and/or rumors. :thumbsup2

I can understand where Delmar is coming from too but it's certainly possible to state an opinion in a less nasty way. At least I believe that it is.

I'm actually pretty positive on FP+ and MB's. So no hater here.

And I DO UNDERSTAND Delmar's point of view as far as he/she apparently knowing but choosing not to share, wanting to follow the rules. But I do think his/her attack on of the CM who did take the time to share was uncalled for. While "not legal" the hub didn't give away trade secrets, national security secrets, or anything substantial like that- he/she merely tried to help people who are spending a bundle not be peeved when they get there- might even be doing Disney a favor.

If Disney is posting things on the hub website that are potentially damaging if the public found out then maybe they need to rethink their policies.

Agreed. I've seen lots of opposing viewpoints expressed in a polite way.

I don't disagree with this. Or PlanoGirls statement. I found it a bit rude, too, in the way it was presented, BUT everyone jumped on Delmar and I don't believe she deserved that in full force, maybe 50% (Sorry Delmar).

Well that's not true, is it? Because the Hub is the name of the website where official info is given to CMs. By calling himself by that name he is saying or intimating that it is official and that it's real info.

Like the info or not...like the fact that it is being posted or not, using that name does give the impression that it is official.

Fwiw I've still not gotten an invitation. But I keep logging into my account on disneyworld.com and get popups telling me to customize bands and such. Is this person logging into their account and going to the mydisneyexperience area?

I'll defend my comment by saying that taking the name "thrhub" does not mean they are claiming to be a Disney REP. PhD simply showing the info is legit and coming from Disney. not a spokesman of the company but a "source" of actual information, not rumors.

... Is this person logging into their account and going to the mydisneyexperience area?

I dont even think they have an MDE disney account. Why would they? "Normal" people dont know it exists. If they booked through a travel agent or by phone direct to disney they wouldn't have an MDE account unless Disney called, emailed, or snail mailed them. Disney didn't and so they have no clue.

We own DVC, we have annual passes, and we visited in the early spring. We have a December DVC reservation made at 11 months out (so feb). I made the cash reservation about 2 months ago (online mind you). I've basically learned nothing about MB/MDE/FP+ from Disney. My only interaction on the subject with Disney was i got a letter and email from disney at ~ 60 days for the DVC points stay.

See the thread about the new thumbdrives for january stays- Disney has to educate the masses about MDE/MB/FP+ and the like. "normal people" just dont know.

That's how they can pull off not telling POP guests that they wont get FP- with FP+ becasue most dont know that the other resorts are all doing it. If everyone knew that the other resorts were still getting FP- there would basically be rioting in the lobby of POP during checkin. Most dont know and that's how Disney gets away with this. For those in the know that complain before or at checking- they move to another resort. For those in the know that complain at the parks get a FP card from the CM's at the machines. But most just dont know and never complain.

you could be right "Delmar" could be a great person for all I know, butthe way that the comments were made were rude. i think everyone agrees there. I also agree with your thinking on removing the animosity, threads like this one are for people trying to help others and others asking for help. Again the rude comments do neither of those things.

I've been thinking about why Disney is keeping quiet about the disadvantage they are placing on those staying at Pop (which I criticized as poor customer relations).

And I suppose that Disney's rationale is this: If Pop guests know that all other resort guests can get FP-, there are clearly grounds for complaints (not sure about rioting, though... ;)), on the basis of unfairness.

But by keeping Pop guests in the dark so that they assume that other guests can't get FP- either, they are trying to simulate the ultimate scenario when FP- is no longer available to anyone.

How much complaining will there be in that situation (when the issue is only diminished value, but not unfairness)? That's probably what they want to assess.

But secrets have their ways of getting out and foiling the best-laid plans of mice and whoever. Long live Mikileaks! ;)

Oh please! Who in their right mind thinks Disney, even in the most far-fetched fantasies, thinks Disney is making OFFICIAL announcements--of insider information none-the-less--on the DIS? And by "official", I mean Disney sanctioned.

I hope Hub comes back and posts and keeps us updated. Please don't let one person make you stop posting. You are given disney guests valuable information to help them out.
