I feel for you. My DD8 is getting her first North Face Denali Thermal for Christmas this year. What I did was figure how much I normally would buy a coat for ($40 on sale-approx.) and take the difference out of her Christmas gift budget. That way $20 was take out of her Christmas budget. This coat is normally $99, but it was on sale in her size for $60.
There is one girl in first grade that I've seen wearing UGGS, but she also has a sister in high school. They tend to want things their older siblings have at a much earlier age.
Back to you. If your DD really wants those boots and she's willing to give up other things to have them, I'd get them.

). She said she would also like Bearpaw but not EMU (don't know why). Bearpaw doesnot make tall kid boot and when I told her that, she said she would wear the woman size. She is size 3 in kid. We went to big 5 and she found a pair of chocolate tall Bearpaw and she wanted it. So I got it for her for 40 and guess what? When I asked her if she still wants an pair of chocolate/tall Uggs boots, she said "of course, that would be the best!!!!!" She is not getting it for Christmas but I think she would get it next year.
