who did you get the quote from?
this far in advance, you might be able to get a very good deal from Disney Cruise Lines itself.
The rate you have looks like it's about 20% off the rack rate, which is pretty good i guess.
Try to post this on the cruise lines board. That's where the experts are.

Jackie, I asked myself the same question about hurricanes as we are booked in for a cruise next August. Basically, the way a friend explained it to me put my mind at rest.

The captain knows what's happening, huricane - wise, and can take early action to sail away from the problem - while this might mean you don;t end up going to a certain port (perhaps), you should be quite safe.

I know my friend is to be trusted on this matter as she has sailed in hurrican season before and is on the same ship as me next August :)

I'm sure she will post herself when she sees this!

Cooooooeeeeee ......... Sue???????

Coooooeeeee Im Here!!

Jackie, Like everything, travelling in the hurricane season there is always the chance something can happen to disrupt your plans, however , I always go in August, Last year we just missed one hurricane and left Florida the night before the next one arrived, and they deal with it very well over there. With regards to travelling on a cruise ship, I had the exact same concerns as you before we left, and a friend of mine who works for Disney Cruise Line gave me the information Karen quoted to you above.

The captain can indeed avoid the worst of the hurricane as a cruise ship can move much faster than the hurricane can, and where possible he will take the ship out of harms way. Now this may mean a port change on route, and I know sometimes the ship has even had to delay the start or end of a cruise and even change the start and end port, but Disney look after you very well and will do their upmost best to ensure they help you out with any changes that may effect your cruise.

With regards to the price, I dont know what date in October you are thinking of going, but I just keyed in Oct 2006 on the DCL web site and entered your details for a cat 12 and it is coming out at £1,777.52,on the 26th October, which is the only date it was showing with avalibilty for a cat 12, so the price you have been quoted is extremley good.

I would book as soon as possible as if it is a popular cruise, the price will go up very quickly. I booked ours for next August on the day it was released and so far it has gone up by over $1600. As you said the deposit is refundable up to 75 days out if you change your mind.

I do hope you are thinking of booking it, as it is one of the best things we have ever done, and your children will love it. If you need any more info let me know.

Good Luck with your desicion Jackie.

Thanks to everyone for there replys
They have put hold on it until Mon,
so i have the weekend to talk hubby into it
wish me luck :wizard: :wizard:

Good luck - it's something I would dearly love to do one day. Hope your hubby agrees :sunny:

Wow Jackie, is that right $1380 dollars ? What extras does this price not include ?

Disney Cruise prices cover virtually everything Reid - the things that spring to mind that it doesn't cover are alcohol, merchandise, excurisons and the Palo cover charge.

I have tried to convince DH we are saving money on our holiday next year as we won't have to spend anything on food for 7 days as we will be cruising ... not sure he believes me though :teeth:

At that kind of money I can definitely think about including this for our first trip in 2007 :)

Would be rude not too :goodvibes

Reid, bear in mind you will need a bigger cabin to accommodate your troops :)

I'm not certain which categories sleep 5 (the price jumps a lot!) but I will check and post back if that would help :)

Thanks Karen. Reading passporter cruise seems that it will be cheaper to go for lower category and 2 cabins than one that sleeps five :confused3

Yet again we are discriminated against :teeth:

I agree. When I have priced it up in the past, we were put in a cabin category 4.

I have been on the Disney Cruise line site today to get an update on the hurricane. The Wonder is to follow it's usual course as the hurricane doesn't appear to be headed for the Bahamas. The 7 night Western Caribean Cruise will now be a 7 night Eastern Caribean Cruise instead.
We have booked via Virgin for the 4 night Wonder in Nov '06. It worked out cheaper for us to book via Virgin with the 10% FVC discount.

That includes the flight, 3 nights accomodation in Orlando and 7 nights in Boca Raton.
