Coooooeeeee Im Here!!
Jackie, Like everything, travelling in the hurricane season there is always the chance something can happen to disrupt your plans, however , I always go in August, Last year we just missed one hurricane and left Florida the night before the next one arrived, and they deal with it very well over there. With regards to travelling on a cruise ship, I had the exact same concerns as you before we left, and a friend of mine who works for
Disney Cruise Line gave me the information Karen quoted to you above.
The captain can indeed avoid the worst of the hurricane as a cruise ship can move much faster than the hurricane can, and where possible he will take the ship out of harms way. Now this may mean a port change on route, and I know sometimes the ship has even had to delay the start or end of a cruise and even change the start and end port, but Disney look after you very well and will do their upmost best to ensure they help you out with any changes that may effect your cruise.
With regards to the price, I dont know what date in October you are thinking of going, but I just keyed in Oct 2006 on the
DCL web site and entered your details for a cat 12 and it is coming out at £1,777.52,on the 26th October, which is the only date it was showing with avalibilty for a cat 12, so the price you have been quoted is extremley good.
I would book as soon as possible as if it is a popular cruise, the price will go up very quickly. I booked ours for next August on the day it was released and so far it has gone up by over $1600. As you said the deposit is refundable up to 75 days out if you change your mind.
I do hope you are thinking of booking it, as it is one of the best things we have ever done, and your children will love it. If you need any more info let me know.
Good Luck with your desicion Jackie.
Sue
