Hello,

We are planning our June 2010 Disney Trip. We travel to Disney every other year and have always stayed at the Contempory. We are very familuar and like the Disney transportation. In June we will be stepping outside of our comfort and staying 3 days at a hotel. Not sure if it will be on property yet or on grounds like Pop Century. After the 3 days we will be moving to Saratoga Springs for 7 days.

Here are questions.

1. Rent a car vs. Disney transportion. Which is better? We are a little unsure of renting a car with rental costs, parking costs, car seat for 3 year old, traveling from park to Park is it easy?

2. First 3 days... Stay on Disney Property or is there a nice hotel that is off that is good to go to.

Any advice on this would be great.

If you stay onsite there is no fee for parking. All Disney resort guests get free parking at the resorts and the parks. You would have to pay for valet parking.
I have not stayed off site since 1987 so I can not help you out there, I love the convenience of staying onsite. I have stayed at the Allstar Sports before transferring over to my DVC resort.
I generally go with WDW transportation too, but for our trip in June we stayed at a 1 Bedroom at the AKV. We rented a car because we had a 14 month old and wanted to be able to leave the parks without waiting for the buses and worrying about the stroller etc. We also wanted to be able to run to the grocery store etc. I was very surprised at how easy it was to navigate around WDW. Everything was well marked.
We brought our own car seat, because we used it on the plane for my grand daughter.
