Advice PLEASE - Reserving GV at OKW

I would like to reserve a Grand Villa for 5 days in August 2003. How do I know EXACTLY when the 11 month window is. From reading this boards previously, I think that I should call day by day at 9:00 a.m. - but say the day was the 15th - do I call on September 15 - does it work out evenly like that. What about for a Sunday - can I call on the Friday before or I have to call on the Monday?

Any and all advice appreciated!

The window is based on your checkOUT day. For the night of the 15th of September, the 11 month window would be October 16th for example. When the day fall on a weekend, you must call the following Monday. Good luck!

you are permitted to call 11 months in advance of each day of your vacation if you are concerned that the GV will be taken if you wait to call until 11 months from your checkout date. In this way you will be adding one day of your vacation each day (except Mondays, at which time you will also be adding Sunday). It takes a lot of extra time, but it is the only way to comfortably insure you will get the accommodations of your choice.

Example: You wish to go to OKW Sunday, August 3, 2003 staying through Thursday August 7 (checking out on 8th). You should call on Monday, September 2, 2002 (Labor Day - if MS is closed - call Tuesday September 3) and each day thereafter until you have reserved the accommodations for 5 nights.

If you are checking in on Sunday, August 3, you cannot call for that night until September 4. As Doctor P posted, the 11 month window is based on the check OUT day. To continue with the example:

For the night of August 4, you can call on Thursday, September 5.
For the night of August 5, you can call on Friday, September 6.

For the nights of August 6, 7 & 8, you can call on Monday, September 9. That's because MS is closed on the weekends.

I you are going to be calling back each day, make sure to let Member Services know what you are doing. That way they will hold off sending you a reservation confirmation letter until you have reserved the entire week.

There are some times of the year that calling every day is not needed. August is one of those times.

I, who only stays in Grand Villas, would call the first day, I would ask if I could reserve five Grand villas for the previous two weeks, if they say 'yes', calling every day won't be needed. I would reserve the one day of my vacation that I could.

If the answer was 'yes', I would call on the third day, ask the same question about reserving five grand villas for the previous two weeks, if the answer was 'yes' again, I would reserve the next two days that I could and I would call next on Friday of that week. I would also call Monday, ask the same five GV question again, if 'yes', I probably wouldn't call again till Friday of that week or the end of my vacation, whichever came first.


Every day calls are not needed in all seasons. If they said, which they have, "you could reserve twenty GVs for the last two weeks, I would not call back till the end of the vacation.
