had a good company which now is going out of business. Thank you

We have used Randy's Mobility for years. They are very accommodating, polite and will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable with your scooter. I am sure there are other wonderful companies out there as well but our experience with Randy's Mobility has been outstanding.

I used Walker, they were great, good prices. You do have to meet them at your resort and they were timely. I've also used Buena Vista, an approved Disney vendor. They will just leave your scooter at the resort and will pick up without you being there. Just more convenient.

I have used and recommend Walker and Randy's multiple times, and Scooterama once. I would consider using one of the Featured companies, Buena Vista, because they are on the Boardwalk and because they're open until 11 or 11:30 every day.

I have used Buena Vista successfully in the past, but now use Walker Mobility.
My concern was that on 3 different places in Buena Vista's FAQ they tell you not to get the scooter wet. But it is Florida and it rains, a lot.
Walker states that their scooters are water resistant. I asked why they can state that and I was told it is because they do not use the same Pride Scooter Buena Vista does.
So for that peace of mind, I went with Walker.

Just to add, the water resistant aspect was reassuring, but I did use Buena Vista and it did rain like crazy and I had no problem. You just have to make sure you cover the electrical panel. Walker gives you a rain cover, don't remember if Buena did or not, but you can cover it yourself. Like I said, it's kind of a pain to have to be in the lobby before and after for delivery and pick up. One night we were eating at CBR and it had to be picked up there, due to timing, and we waited like 1/2 hour for the guy to come get it. Just something to keep in mind. Oh, also, I thought the scooter from Walker was definitely less peppy than the one I got from Buena.

I went on the chat feature on MDE and asked for a list of their current vendors. I had previously rented one for my grandmother from a company that said they were a Disney partner and it came out that they weren't on Disney's list for that particular year so pick up and drop off was a pain.

Yeah, exactly my experience. I'd go with the Disney approved scooter agencies, even though Walker was cheaper. But if you don't mind fitting yet another thing into your schedule, I'd go with Walker.

I've used FloridaMobilityRentals for the last 4 trips and have another one booked for this coming September. Repeat hirers get 10% discount on future rentals, too. Okay, they're not a 'preferred' company, but I'd rather save $100+ than have it waiting for me on arrival.

OP didn't say where he/she was staying. I believe you have to meet Walker Mobility in person at Disney resorts but not necessarily at others. For my upcoming stay at Swan I've been told the ECV will be waiting when I get there and when we check out of Portofino we can leave it at bell services. Works perfectly for us.

Yes, on my last stay, I had to meet Walker Mobility at the Hospitality House at OKW, even though I told them I was way down at Southpoint. They made it plain that they'd wait for me at check-in, a main reason I'm going to rent from a featured provider next time-convenience.

Yes...convenience. It's hard enough to plan which park, what time, fit in meals etc. without having to wait around for scooter arrival and drop off. I do have to say that Walker tries to be accommodating but they required me to be present for both.

I'm surprised that they did that.

They've met me away from check-in. Maybe they are making sure people are actually staying at the resort now?

I like Walker and I've used them a few times. They are friendly and helpful. But yes, you do have to meet them.

I actually steer away from "preferred providers" because they are preferred providers. I hate that Disney makes companies pay to be on the list. There isn't anything special about the companies that are on the list. Just they were willing to pay.

I have never waited for Walker for drop off. On the contrary they have been waiting for me as I got off of the ME each time. Pickup was a different story. But I determined the pickup window, and they called when they were on their way.
It definitely is a Trade Off. I wish Walker was a preferred vendor because the convenience of just leaving it with Bell Services when I used Buena Vista was great. But I am a worry wart :-) The dampness issue was enough for me to change. Buena Vista did not give an electrical control rain cover but I did bring my own. But it is more than just that.
Anyway Good Luck with your decision.

You know, either way you'll be fine. Just bring something plastic to cover the control panel if it rains. Also remember to cover or fold your seat down it there is any chance of a storm. I forgot to do that once and when we came out of BOG for lunch, my scooter seat was soaked! This year I'm going to try and walk it. But....I have a back up plan. Buena Vista has a rental site at the boardwalk for day rentals. It is first come first serve, but if all else fails I'll go there first thing in the morning and get something. We are staying off site, so we have to do it this way. And yes, it will be more of a hassle but cheaper than renting one in the parks.

Okay, they're not a 'preferred' company, b

No Disney partners, or Disney-approved, or Preferred rental equipment comanies.

Right. The five - soon to be four - Featured medical equipment vendors do pay WDW to use Bell Services as the swap point, and to be designated "Featured."

I'm confused? We've rented for my grandmother twice... what's wrong with the ones on Disney's list?

Nothing. They aren't any different than the companies not on the list.

The list is simply the companies that agreed to pay Disney for the ability to drop off scooters. The ones not on the list, well, they didn't pay. So of course, they can't drop off the scooter, you have to be there.
