Advice please for trying to secure villa GF

So we have decided on the villas at GF....I know this will be super popular this year and am wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to ensure my best chances of getting a villa here next fall?!?!

Our kids (and myself!) are super excited to stay here and are looking forward to trying out the new villas....what is my best option?!

Are you a DVC member wanting to swap in or are you paying Disney directly for a room?

I am either thinking of renting points or booking thru disney, trying to do it the cheapest way obviously but also really want to stay here so want to try to make sure we can get it!

The most assured way of getting that GFV studio is booking it for cash now.

I would if I could but disney doesn't have them released yet.

I'd go on the rent trade board and find someone that has done a lot of rentals and now owns GFV. Do research it and read the sticky on top and see if it fits for you. If you want fall next year and it is a busy time make sure you are looking at 11 months out. The also are companys that do all the rental search for you.

I have been in talks with two rental companies and both think 11 months out will be unsuccessful and we will have more luck at 7 months out. this is our first time renting points so am nervous to do it through someone else without their references....I have been searching the rent threads and not many people there are renting their points for the GF

You should take a multifaceted approach:

1)Keep monitoring Disney's site to see if any come open for cash reservations

2) Talk with the DVC rental brokers (like you have) and have them keep an eye out for someone to rent those points to you during the home resort window (before seven months out).

3) Keep watch on the DVC rental boards here and in other places for VGF owners who want to rent points out.

Then it might be best to go directly to finding a owner that is willing to book at the 11month window for you. Just make sure you do all your research and find someone that has a lot of rental experience.

Thanks...I emailed two people who have points available and own at GF but are renting their points now and I can't until October, if they have any points left by when we can book they said they will let me know.

One of the brokers said they can put in a request a month before my booking window opens...is that true for DVC owners too?? could one of these owners submit my request a month ahead??

No. The broker just means he'll start putting feelers out to find you an owner a month out of your booking date. Members can book 11 months before arrival day.
