Advice please- fantasy or magic?

We have sailed both the reimagined Magic and the Fantasy. If ship is a big influencer, I would vote Fantasy every day of the week. Everything, and I mean everything, is nicer on the fantasy. It's bigger, newer, more to do, better Disney themed, yet more elegant spaces. The Magic had absolutely no wow factor. After s ailing the Fantasy, I honestly wouldn't ever choose the Magic again unless the itinerary was just that special or cost difference was a huge factor. Just one families opinion.

Re: weather, not sure if this was mentioned earlier, but October is hurricane season. We had a lovely time on our cruise...except for that one night we skirted down and under a hurricane. So. Just something to consider.

And another families opinion is the Magic has plenty of wow. Even with the major changes during her re-imagining, I'd take the Magic over the Fantasy any day.

I don't think missing school is a big deal for children that age. The Magic is a beautiful ship, and being smaller is a plus for many. If you can stand being on a ship full of people from NY/NJ, than I vote for the Magic as it is closer and less expensive.

PS, the pools are heated and there will be plenty of kids in them.

We've been on the Fantasy twice and the old Magic once. At the time the Magic was showing her age - down to threadbare bedspreads. I am not a fan of the Magic. However we are doing one of the NYC cruises this November on the reimagined Magic. We really liked the itinerary (NYC to San Juan) and the price was incredible for a Disney cruise. For a number of reasons it will probably be our last Disney cruise.

Our last Magic cruise was out of NYC - I think it's the same itinerary that you're looking at. The day at Disney was very hectic. Even though it was June just the logistics of taking the buses and all - it just seemed like a very rushed - and exhausting - day. I did love not having to fly and sailing out of NYC is fantastic. And for me, I really, really don't think I'd want to sail a spring break cruise. Just too crowded! Some of your comments/concerns make me think that the Magic is probably a great option for you. Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

We visited WDW during Jersey Week one time! Yikes, never again! I can't imagine being confined to a ship to the equivalent of Jersey Week, IMHO.
