Advice/opinions on the Toyota Highlander

I have a 2001 Sienna. I am not happy with it. Lots of rattles, wind noise, sluggish pickup, brakes hydroplaned on me several times this weekend driving in downpours on the interstate.

I LOVE Sequoia, but that is not in my price range. I really do not need seating for 7 anymore. We are usually down to just DH and youngest child.

Do you like it? Handling? Quiet? Does it have a good ride? Any maintenance issues?

I am looking at the Avalon too but am not sure I want to go back to a car. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

No first hand experience with the Highlander, but I have wanted one since they first came out! (still do!!)

I HAVE test-driven one, and really liked it. The thing I remember most was that it had a great turning radius, better than my Chrysler Town & Country!!

my parents have one and they adore it. i have driven it before and it handles really well -- great turning radius.

We purchased ours in April of this year and LOVE it!! It handles wonderfully. Consumer Reports rates it excellent!

My DH has one and he LOVES it. And I hated his last SUV (Jeep Cherokee), but this one is wonderful. It drives like a CAR and is very quiet. He got the limited edition with some upgrades too. It's definitely a keeper.

We got our Highlander at the end of April...It is wonderful!
We did a 3500 mile road trip in it this summer and we were quite comfy! It is quiet inside and does not ride like a "truck". We have been pleasantly surprised by the mileage so far.

I've had mine since March 2001.
Love it!! It has a lot of room (we're tall people).
Rides smooth and quiet. I have 4WD and the larger engine. It is very powerful. We've been on 4 or 5 road trips....it's wonderful!!
