Looking to plan a trip for family of 3 +child’s friend. With 2 teenage girls really wanna look into staying somewhere with 2 bed/2bath so we’ll all have our on space, but as many of you know universal doesn’t offer without paying an arm and leg. We wanna do EP but staying at Loews or hard rock is not reasonable bc who wants to pay an extra couple $1,000 for a one bedroom suite. Opinions on staying off site with Airbnb anyone?? Looking into a place within 2 miles (close to the Endless Summer resorts).

Surfside and Dockside have 2 bedroom suites for under $200/night. That is pretty reasonable, in my view. I don't think you can get anything at WDW for that price.

You would get transportation that is free and would also run more frequently than all the hotels in that area. You would also get early admission.

Have you considered the 2 bedroom suites at either Cabana Bay (Volcano Bay Towers) or at Endless Summer?

While you wouldn't get EPs with your stay you'd still get early entry and free daily transportation to the parks. See the following two link for room details (images and layouts)

My first choice would be one of the above suggestions (I would love to stay in one of those Volcano View rooms!) - you could also look into booking 2 connecting rooms.

There are not as many rental properties near Universal as there are nearer to Disney due to zoning regulations. One option that you could look at is Vista Cay (https://www.vistacayholidays.com/) or you could search airbnb to see what pops up, if you would really prefer to try offsite.

There is no cheap way to do this, but if you go the Value Resorts route, don't forget that booking a throwaway room at the Deluxe Resorts would get you two days of EPs for up to five guests. Would likely be cheaper than buying EPs separately, and it gives you a close room to go rest at during the day if you don't want to go back on the bus...

I have looked but we were looking at the stay and play package they’re offering right now. We’re not planning on going to WDW, my stepdaughter’s been 5 or 6 times and wants to see universal now.

The package deals often don't save money vs booking separate, especially if you can get an APH rate with a season pass. It really depends on when you are going and how long you'll be there.

I use this link to looks at hotel prices to see if there are APH rates available for my dates. Sometimes they don't open up until a couple months before you go, so keep checking.
