Advice on when to book, please

My plan is to stay 7 nights at an onsite hotel for less than $200 per night this coming May 28-June 4. There are 5 of us and I would like to stay cr. If I am reading correctly the packages are not going to discount rooms? So, I am going to want a 5 day MYW hopper ticket (which looks like it will save us a little over the old hoppers?) and hope for a code for our room.

My question is, if all above info is correct so far, the soonest I could book my room would be after Christmas (because of deposit) Should I go ahead and book POR at $164 a night or should room only codes be coming in January and I should just wait a little longer to book CR?

Thanks

Michele

I'm in the same boat. I'm planning a May 3-9 trip and want to stay at POR, but have no intention of paying full price, even if it means changing the date. I also read on another thread that if you call central reservations, you may be able to negotiate a discount, and if you don't, try calling back and asking for a different CM. I haven't called yet, but my hope is that they will be able to tell me when the May discounts will come out.
Good luck, go get'em.

Hello, I would recommend booking as soon as you can, and book for the hotel you want to stay in that is in your price range. Then when the codes come out you can either keep your current reservation and have them apply the code to that room or rooms, or you can look into a different hotel that may have been out of your range prior to the code coming out. Either way I would book to at least insure you have the room you want.

We had our last vacation booked a year and a half before the trip. Codes weren't available until 6 weeks before our trip. I had no problem calling and changing my reservation to reflect the current code. I was offered to change my deposit amount (since it was cheaper with the code) but decided to keep it at the original amount.

I will say, however, my parents had booked their reservation online. When a code became available, they called CRO and it wasn't nearly as easy for them to make changes because of the original reservation being made online. Their reservation had to be cancelled and rebooked to apply the code.

If you want these dates, I would book ASAP - with the 50th celebration on May 5th, rooms will fill fast!

Tron72, thanks for the advice. I am not crazy about POR but it's what I can afford this trip.

disneyatl, glad you told me about the online problem, that is usually how I book. I think I'll call this time.

Thanks
