Hello all....need a little advice from you all....on the subject of tipping...I know what Disney recommends for all the service people regarding servers....room stewards..asst. servers....etc. but how about the people that serve you drinks? We usually buy the mugs and get them refilled a few times...should we tip when they refill the mug? How about when you take it to the bar yourself and get it filled....also....my wife get's the specialty drinks quite often...usually buying the glass with it...they automatically add 15% to the check...should you give an additional tip or is the 15% enough....I have cruised two years in a row...this being the third and I still feel a little funny when it comes to the tipping....never know if I give enough even though I have never undertipped the recommended tip...even when we really did not think the service was great...although last year was great and we tipped well over the recommended amount to our server and his assistant(Sasha....he was great)....so I do need your imput....and thanks!

Depends. If all they did was fill my mug, the 15% was enough BUT there was one of the bartenders at Signals that after the 1st day knew what kind of beer we wanted, got us clean frosted mugs & was extra attentive to us even when he was swamped so he did get extra.

For bar drinks, I add extra if they go above and beyond. For example, if I just order a drink in the bar, I think the 15 percent autogratuity is enough. But if I am out on the beach on Castaway Cay and they come all the way out there to take my order and deliver my drink, I add extra.

from the dcl site in regards to tipping.

For your convenience, a 15% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, and deck service tabs. All gratuities can be charged to your room charge.
At the Walt Disney World® Resort, 15% is the customary gratuity at restaurants and bars.

Regarding the bar tips, I was told that the 15% auto-gratuity which is added to each bill is distributed equally amongst all of the bartenders/servers. Anything you add on top of that goes directly to the person who served you. Similar to how the Palo surcharge works. With that in mind, I usually add a little extra to a bar bill, especially if I am going to be there for a little while and they'll be serving me again. I also add a bit extra for superior service, which (for me) would include speed, efficiency, attitude, etc.

I have never cruised, so I'm wondering how this bar bill works. I mean, does the bill end up on your room bill? Do you carry around cash for Castaway Cay and other places where you want to give a little extra over the tip that was charged? I plan on bringing my own alcohol, really, and don't usually drink anything except water during the day, but I'm curious about all this extra tipping.

It all goes on your room bill - no cash on the ship or Castaway Cay (except for stamps for postcards!). There is a line on the slip you sign to add any extra gratuity.

you use your room key - aka KTTW - Key To The World to charge things to your room...
