We're heading to California early in August (2 adults + 4 kids aged 12,9,and 5 year old twins) for a summer science camp for our older kids. We have started planning to add on three full days at Disneyland. However, I'm worried about blowing $1100 on 6 x 3 day park hopper tickets only to arrive and discover that the crowds and the heat are too unbearable. If the crowds are over the top, thus making the ride lines 60+ minutes, we can't really put the four kids through that. I'm wondering if there is a realistic option to get a single day set of tickets that would allow us to try the first day before committing to the next two days. I know this would ultimately cost more overall, but I kind of count that as insurance. Is there any way to get the first days 1 park tickets now, and then get a two day park hopper on the night of the first day's visit after we determine it is bearable? Am I going to pay a lot more, and can this even be done without buying at the gate? Thanks!
