Am going to be in the Orlando area the first week of July with my family and have two small children ages 5 and 7. What rides will they be able to ride if we go to Islands of Adventure?? Or should we go to another park instead?? Have already been to Magic Kingdom.

They can do Pteranadon Flyers, Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish, CaroSuessell, Suess Trolley Train ride, Flight of the Hippogriff, Poseidan's Fury, Popeye and Bluto Water Ride, perhaps Spiderman, Storm force Acceletron, do the Jurassic Park Discovery Centre, play in the If I Ran the Zoo playground and the Me Ship the Olive Playground. See the Sinbad Show.

Is it worth the $300 we are thinking about laying down on tickets??
We really wanted to see the Harry Potter attraction but I'd hate to get down there and spend all the money on tickets if they don't enjoy it too.

It is really hard to judge for another family. We've gone for the past 12 years or so and prefer it to Disney.

Are those the only rides for smaller children???

Are there any others??

Oh and one more. Would you spend the $300 if your kids were 5 and 7??

Thanks for the advice Damo. I appreciate you helping out with this!

Some of the other rides depend on height. If you go through the website it gives all of the rides and the height restrictions.

If you are going to go to a park, I think IOA is just as good a choice as any.

Okay so we are trying to decide between Hollywood Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Are your kids girls or boys?

I forgot to mention the Superhero parade and the Spiderman meet and greet.

My son would love those. Have one boy-7 and one girl-5. She won't go on anything scary. And they are tall but tiny (48 and 58 pounds) so I have a little apprehension putting them on rides but I guess you get a brochure or something that tells you what rides are appropriate??

They rode just about everything at Magic Kingdom though except for the water ride, space mountain and some others.

Then they can do more stuff depending on their bravery level. I think there is more for them at IOA than at Hollywood Studios.

I was thinking that too. The only draw to Hollywood Studios is the Star Wars attractions that my son would also LOVE. However the more I think about it, IOA sounds better than some of the others that I've looked at online like Animal Kingdom, etc.

When do they have the super heroes parade and spiderman meet and greet??

Thanks Damo! So much!
On more thing. You said they might possibly do the Spiderman. I saw online that that has a simulated free fall. That means it is not a true free fall correct? I already know that roller coasters are out except maybe the Hippogriff. And possibly rides that plunge too far down too. But maybe the Spiderman and log flume would be okay???

The simulated free fall is just on the screen. You are falling from the top of a building but of course your vehicle only moves a few inches. I would probably not do the log flume...it is quite the drop. However, everything is visible and it is easy to make your own decision. If they are tall enough for Spiderman, then I would do it. It isn't scary and it is an excellent, excellent ride.

Thanks so much Damo. I think we will try it. I think I am off to bed now.

Have fun and let us know how you all like it. Remember that the Harry Potter crowds are huge so don't venture into that part until late in the day!
