Advice on planning HS day

I feel like all these ADR's are pretty much dictating our schedules!
On the day we are planning on going to HS, we have a 12:15 Fantasmic mama Melrose and a 4:30 Sci Fi res. not ideal times, but really want VIP Fantasmic and to eat at sci fi. So...
Do you think we should go at rope drop and leave after lunch, rest and then come back for sci fi and Fantasmic? Or come for lunch and stay through Fantasmic? We are 8 pple, ranging from 4 yo- 75 yo (!) staying at Contemporary.
We're planning on doing Toy Story, Beaty and the Beast, Star Tours (no thriller rides)

Of those options I would get to HS for your lunch and stay through Fantasmic. The other option seems like a lot of travel for a short amount of downtime especially if you need to wait for the bus (vs. your own car).
