My husband is very picky and has crossed out most of the restaurants in Epcot, leaving the Italian and Mexican ones as his top picks. Can anyone suggest which one has more "plain" food? I think he could get the pizza at the Italian restaurant, but the Hacienda de san Angel looks like fancy Mexican food, or am I wrong? What do you guys think? Thanks for any input. :)

I have an extremely picky husband too & although we haven't eaten at Hacienda de San Angel, we have eaten at Tutto Italia several times & my husband is fine there. He usually orders the Lasagna. This yr. we are going back to Tutto Italia & trying Via Napoli, which is probably the one you're referring to about the pizza. My DH said he's probably going to try the Chicken or Veal Parmigiana there because he doesn't like thin crust pizza...see, told you that mine was picky, he's even a pain about pizza :)

Via Napoli has pizza, I'm assuming that is the Italian place you mean. Be aware it's Neapolitan style pizza (thin, crisp crust, fresh instead of grated cheese, not a lot of toppings) and I have seen complaints about it from those who expected a more "American"-style pizza.

You also shouldn't go to La Hacienda (or San Angel Inn) expecting tacos and burritos like they serve at the local Chili's.

Thanks for the input!
I was wondering b/c hubby thinks he is going to get a taco like he does here but the menu looked more authentic. Maybe stick to the Italian place?

I want the kids to try different food but its hard when hubby doesnt want to. :(

Does the Italian place have windows? The one mexican place looks like it does and it would be more fun to enjoy the view?

You cannot go wrong with Via Napoli or Tutto Italia, they are both out of this world

We love San Angel Inn but didnt like La Hacienda at all...the food there was just terrible.

Via Napoli has windows, but it is set far back in the pavilion and the lagoon is not visible from there.

We ate at Tutto in January, and I even posted about how absolutely amazing the spaghetti and meatballs were. The best I have EVER eaten. That's not too out there for an entree, he would like it I'm sure.

Book somewhere you like and get him an uncrustable at Sunshine Seasons along the way.

:)

We went to Via Napoli this past weekend it was really good! The four cheese pizza is a white pizza (we were surprised by this) no tomato sauce so just be aware. I loved it, hubby wanted something more normal. We fortunately had gotten half four cheese half pepperoni, and the pepperoni was good and normal he liked that.

Cant go wrong with pizza!

My DH is pretty picky too (mostly he eats cheeseburgers) - he LOVED Rose & Crown's Fish and Chips plate.

Dang...where is the "like" button for these boards?? LOL!

To the OP: I'm so sorry your dh is being difficult on this. Part of the fun of the World Showcase is trying new things. You can get Mexican and Italian at home. :(

You didn't really mention how your husband is picky, but I'm assuming anything overly ethnic is out...

That said, have you considered Teppan Edo? It's really good and pretty tame....steak, shrimp, chicken, noodles...and it's really a lot of fun for the whole family.

This was my thinking exactly! DH should suck it up for the sake of his children...he'll make picky eaters out of them by refusing to even go to a different place. Pick a place you're interested in trying...have one of the kids order a childs meal, and then switch it with daddy...he can get pizza shaped like a Mickey head!

The chicken parm at Via Napoli was not good. The side it came with (spaghetti "torte") was a hard piece of inedible... something. Awful. The chicken itself was so-so. My wife tasted it and asked me "You like that?", as if no human should. Tutto Italia is much better.

I am very picky. My BF told me I would not like LaHacienda so I avoid it even tho the view is beautiful! I love Tutto. The pizza at Via Napoli was good. DH liked the chick parm but he didn't like the side. I would get the spag and meatballs the next time. They looked great on our neighbors table. I also love Coral Reefs chicken dish and steak. I just ask for no sauce and sub mashed potatoes for any of the 'strange' sides they offer! PP say your picky DH will make a picky eater out of your kids. Well my DS now eats everything despite my efforts to protect him from those foods!:goodvibes

You didn't mention exactly what your dh is picky about.

Have you considered the Garden Grill?

Here is the menu from wdwinfo.com

Family style Dinner - Farmers Salad, Char Grilled Beef Strip Loin, Roasted Turkey Breast, Fish of the Day, Garden Fresh Vegetables, Smashed Potatoes, and Turkey Dressing, Strawberry/Rhubarb Crisp, with Vanilla Ice Cream -

Even though they have more interesting foods for other eaters, I would think the "plainest" foods could be found at places like Le Cellier, Rose and Crown, Coral Reef and Chef de France. You could always get a plain steak/ fried fish with fries or mashed potatoes or something. Most places are very good with leaving off sauces etc... This way you could try some other places while DH could eat his boring food. Heck, even Biergarten has mac & cheese, bread, and roast chicken. You don't have to eat the pickled cabbage just because you are there. :goodvibes
