We are considering trying Tony's Town Square Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. We have tried most of the sit down restaurants there except this one. I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences there (good or bad) and if you would be willing to share them. Also would appreciate any advice on the foods, what to order, what not to and the size of the portions. Thanks!

If you like food, please consider not eating here. We had dinner there last July and Chef Boy Ardee would have made better food. This is the only restaurant in WDW that I have strong, negative feelings about. The location is great, so you may want to go for dessert. No meatballs, despite the theme, are worth the trip---let alone the wait!!! YUCK!

I wouldn't waste my money going to Tony's again. The food was mediocre at best and definitely overpriced for the quality of the food.

We ate at Tony's for Thanksgiving Nov 2001, the food was OK, not fantastic but the setting was perfect. It was just about 3 PM and the parade went by. We ate in the front room where we could watch it. I'd say the setting and the timing is what made our day, the food was not memorable - not bad but just not great.

Another BIG no vote for Tony's. It was THE worst italian meal ever! Soooo....bad I nearly went into the kitchen to give the chef my recipe for meatballs and sauce. I could be mistaken, but I believe the Butoni company sponsors this place, and the sauce tasted like it came right out of a jar. YUCK!:

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like we might do better somewhere else. Any suggestions?

My experiences here were very different as we had several good to very good meals. I did not have the spaghetti and meatballs so I can't comment on that. The service was excellent and the setting is charming!
It's good to get opinions, but when they differ I say try it yourself and form your own opinions. We're glad we ate at Tony's!

Debbie

Thanks, Debbie! At least we have one "yes" vote.:D

Now you have 2. We really like Tony's. Have never gotten the spaghetti and meatballs. I try never to order from any restaurtant a dish of pasta and tomato sauce. Everyone makes their sauce different, forget about the regional differences. But we have always enjoyed Tony's and go each trip.

DH and I also enjoyed Tony's...we've had dinner there twice. We've never ordered the spaghetti and meatballs but rather chicken and pork dishes. We also liked the salads and one of their appetizer breads. We will have dinner there again next trip.

I agree with the masses on this one. Tony's was a real let down for me in October. Alfredo's, on the other hand, was EXCELLENT! That is what I call REAL italian food (and awesome connollis for dessert). Definitely skip Tony's and head to Alfredo's. You will thank me (and everyone else) for the advice.

Enjoy :Pinkbounc

I also liked Tony's. I was surprised at the selection on the menu for a restaurant in MK- it's not just a spaghetti house, they have some interesting choices. I particularly liked the polenta-crusted goat cheese, nice change from mozzerella sticks. I also had the chicken cacciatore, which I thought was quite nice.

Alfredo's is a good choice, too, but I think if you post the same question about that place you'll find just as many negative comments as you did for Tony's. Maybe people just have different ideas about what makes good Italian food.

My one and only experience the service was great, the food okay, the portions tiny and the priceslarge.

This is one place that I will skip.

We always eat a meal at Tony's. My boys like Tony's. We have never had the spaghetti and meatballs but we like the food, service and the charming ambience. Nice sit down lunch.
:D

We used to love Tony's, but likely won't be returning anytime soon after our poor experience last March. There's just too many other great restaurants to spend our time & money at.

We went to celebrate my husband's bday lunch & found out after we were seated that they no longer had Chicken Parmigiana, even though we had just eaten it there in Dec. We were disappointed, but finally found another dish on the menu to try. Well, neither one of us really enjoyed our dishes. My hubby liked mine better than his, and neither of us liked his. :(

The server offered him a Tiramisu dessert for his birthday, but we declined - he's not a tiramisu fan. She then offered us several other desserts he could get for his bday & he ended up choosing a slushie type dessert. It came in a child sized cup & they charged us $7 for it!!!!

We were told when we checked in that he would receive a "complimentary" dessert for his bday, but ended up being charged for it. We were so frustrated at this point we just left - didn't want to deal with the waitress on hubby's bday. All in all we had very poor service, poor food & an overall poor experience. Unfortunately, we won't be returning - this is the only restaurant at WDW that we've ever had a problem with. Never had any other negative experiences.

We were considering trying Mama Melrose's at MGM next trip - I have some family members that weren't impressed with Alfredo's either. Good luck in your decision! :)

Arizona - in case you haven't tried Mama Melrose's, we LOVE it. We have made it a stop on every trip. The food has always been awesome, the service is sometimes spotty though. The reason we chose Tony's is because we wanted to try another place that wasn't Mama Melrose's. I don't know, we still might wind up back there!

But I'm still listening to all the advice . . .

It depends on if you want great food or great atmosphere. The Tony's atmosphere is a real draw - esp. if you like Lady and the Tramp. We waited patiently for a patio seat (very few of these) which we were able to get right before the parade started. It was heaven eating out there during the parade. I felt like we had the best seat in the MK. The food was OK. The prices are on par with other WDW restaurants, and less expensive than some.

I would not suggest Alfredo's. We thought Mama Melrose was pretty good - and its reasonably priced.
