Advice on Cheapest Solution to Ticket Dilemma

My family of 5 (two adults and 3 kids) currently has four day park hopper tickets for our trip in June. I had already decided I was going to add a 5th day when we arrive as I want to go into the park for a character breakfast on our "pool day" and it's only a few extra $$ per person to add that 5th day. DH won't be able to join us on that day but as we bought the tickets as part of a package through Disney I assume we will have to upgrade all family members from four days to five days.

However, now I find myself in a situation where the people we are meeting (my DH's aunt and her grand-daughter) are expecting to go into the park on our arrival day (which I had not originally planned for). If we join them (which would likely be the best plan given they're making a special trip to see us and I don't want to disappoint them and they're only staying for the first three days), then I find myself in the situation of needing 6 day tickets for myself and the three kids. DH would not be there on that day, so he still only needs a 4 day ticket. So, what is the cheapest option for 6 day tickets for 1 adult, three kids and a 4 day ticket for one adult given that we have already purchased (and paid for and received) 4 day park hopper tickets for us all? We would NOT need the hopper option on the two extra days. Is the cheapest option really to have to buy a 2 day non-hopper ticket? That is just so much more expensive than upgrading the five of us from a 4 day hopper to a 5 day hopper for one extra afternoon. :worried: I guess I could cancel the character breakfast and not enter on the pool day but my kids would be disappointed by that.

On your pool day, when you planned on having a character breakfast, can you do that at Goofy's Kitchen? That way you don't need to use one of the admission days since it's at the DL hotel.

I think this is the best plan as well. You could also do Surf's Up with Mickey at the PPH. Neither would require park admission.

The packages come with individual tickets, they do not all have to be upgraded.

There are no 6 day tickets to DL any longer. So yes, your best bet is to do a non-park character meal on your pool day.

I should have been more specific. We're doing Ariel's that day because my daughters want the whole princess experience. I don't think the hotel character meals offer the same princess experience. Looks like I might be coughing up for 2 day tickets for us.

I would just switch my character meal to another day, should be lots of room left if you do it soon and then the pool day will be a real relaxing day which is sometimes needed!!!

I honestly had better princess interaction at Goofy's Kitchen than at Ariel's Grotto. They spent way more time with us. Ariel's Grotto was sign the book snap a picture move on to the next table.

I feel the same way about our experience there. And Goofy's usually has at least one princess.

Is it possible to ask the people who are joining you (I don't know if they are locals) to go on a day that you already plan on going in to the parks? You can let them know that you're not going to the parks on your arrival day, and that you only have 5-day tickets.
