We are going to be in Disney a week from Sunday and the kids want a dinner with the character's. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone out there experienced the character dinners? Help!!!!

is hands-down, Chef Mickey's! It's so much fun and the characters are very interactive with everyone. From the individual visits, to the songs and napkin-dance :rolleyes1 (not that WE do that, :rolleyes1 . With Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale coming to the tables and Donald and sometimes others near the dessert area, it's loads of fun for everyone. Plus, it doesn't hurt that it's some of the best eats on Disney property (of course that's just my opinion). :flower:

Another vote for Chef Mickey's. Although it might depend on what your kids are age and gender wise. If they are girls they might really enjoy having dinner at 1900 Park Fare, its a Cinderella theme. If you want some real convenience we also love Liberty Tree Tavern and its right in Magic Kingdom. Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale is who we have seen there and they are in colonial attire. Very fun place and the food is served family style so it is a little less hectic. Overall though Chef Mickey's is great and the food is more varied. I know my kids love the salad bar with the peel and eat shrimp. Also it is fun being in the Contemporary. Since you are getting close I would call and make an ADR very soon! Have a fun trip!

Food-wise I would say 1900 Park Fare (and also if you have princess fan). Chef Mickey's was fun but the food was sub-par, even for a buffet (grease for the hot dogs was solidifying, cheese was hard and grease pooling on the kids pizza, shrimp were totally floppy from being left in the water (which should have been ice, but it had melted ages ago) too long, beef was well, well, well done or very, very, very rare, etc.).

Really, I would choose what characters you want to see and only expect the food to be edible. That way if you get a good meal out of the deal then it is a pleasant surprise rather than a disappointment if it is not good.

1900 Park Fair has the best food by a long shot. As for fun, then you'd want to go to Chef Mickey. We think the food there is good. Better than any of the other character meals we've tried, except for 1900 Park Fair.

I agree completely with Bellarella. The food at every character dinner I've ever been to is edible at best. But I'm sort of picky too...so maybe it's just me. If it were me I would definitely pick the meal with the characters you most want to see. Character interaction is good at all of them. Personally, my favorite character dinner is Crystal Palace at MK. They had the best food when I was there last year. Winnie the Pooh theme. Chef Mickey's is a lot of fun but I wouldn't recommend it if any of your children are shy. My cousin 4, did not enjoy it at all. Hope that helps! :flower3:

I think the Princess Storybook Breakfast at Akershus is an excellent value. We took our two boys (aged 2 and 5 at the time) and they loved it. You get alot of characters. Princess Jasmine even laid a big lipsticky kiss on my big boy. The food was very good as was the service.

We did Chef Mickey's once for dinner and the food was terrible. But breakfast is wonderful. I have ADRs two times for Chef Mickey for our next trip in October because we are staying at the Contemporary.

Thanks for all the great advice! One question where is this 1900 Park Fair????? :confused3 first timer!

1900 Park Fayre is in the Grand Floridian, right next door to the Magic Kingdom. It is hands down the best buffet food and worth a visit just to see the resort if you've not been there.

CHEF MICKEY!!!!!
We did breakfast and it was fantastic. The food was great.Good coffee. I think the adults had just as much fun as the kids.

AT a week out it might be take what you can get. Our favorite however for a dinner is LTT at the Mk. It is not as loud or crazy as the others and it is sitdown instead of a buffet. The character interaction is the best we have had anywhere!!!
Our breakfast favorite is Donald's at AK. For lunch CP at Mk is a nice break!

We love LTT and CP. We could not recommend Chef Mickey's, as the food there was terrible, and the service not much better.

Going a week from Sunday?! Best to jump on the phone as soon as possible to see what is available for character dining!

Hi! We LOVED Chef Mickey's and the girls really liked their food at dinner...particularly the ice cream bar! ;) We also liked Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) at MK as well as breakfast in the castle. Good luck getting some ADR's! Have a wonderful trip! :wave2:

Love Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. Good luck to you though, character dinners can be hard to come by this late in the game

We love Chef Mickey's. It is great. The only question is there going to be any openings only a week before during the busy season. I would call 1-407-WDW-DINE as soon as you can and see what they have avaiable.
