Advice needed regarding Shareholders Club

Hi

I was a Shareholders Club member until about 2003 but let my membership lapse.

Since then Euro Disney has been effectively delisted from the London stock exchange and my paltry 20 shares (which have plummeted in value!) are no longer enough to get me membership of the Shareholders Club.

I've read two other threads on this board discussing the benefits of buying the 500 shares required to become a member of the club. So I need to buy more shares.

But I'm confused, because the other posts suggested it was easy to buy shares online. I have registered for Halifax and Selftrade, but both require me to wait for a form in the postal mail, then send it back with various forms of ID, before my account is validated and I can finally buy the shares.

Is this the same process that the rest of you followed to buy your Disney shares? Or does anyone know of a way I can buy shares online without having to wait several days / weeks for the paperwork and registration?

Thanks

Horseradish

Ofcourse I can`t answer for the Uk but in Holland it works the same way. They must have a written and signd form before you can buy shares.

Hi Horseradish

I bought my shares after registering with Selftrade. Following the registration process, I was allowed to buy shares straight away, but only up to a certain limit. However, the limit was well above that needed to buy my 2000 shares. Selftrade sent some stuff in the post to me, but the only paperwork I had to send to them was a copy of a bank statement to prove where I lived. I believe there is a certain amount of checking done on you with the information provided when registering online.

Consequently, I was able to upload funds to my Selftrade account and buy the shares required almost as soon as I had opened the account. The shares are now listed on the Paris stock exchange.

Once you have bought your shares through Selftrade, they will produce an invoice (in pdf format) showing the shares you have bought. You can download this or print off a copy and the Shareholders Club are happy with this as proof of ownership. You should not have to wait days or weeks to buy your shares. If speed is of the essence and you have bought 2000 shares, you can fax your application form and proof of ownership to the club and if required, they will send (post or fax) you a temporary letter within a few days as proof of membership which is accepted in the park.

Membership of the club lasts two years. If you buy 500 shares, there is a charge for membership (30 euros). If you buy 2000 shares, membership is free. Cost of 2000 shares through Selftrade, at the current price, is about £120. If you haven't already found it, further information on the Shareholder Club is here

Hope that helps and good luck.

I recently bought 2000 shares through iweb which is an online share dealing brokerage. I registered online and then had to wait a few days for them to send me a password and to check out my identity details. I could then add money to my iweb account from my bank account and buy my shares. I also spoke to them on the phone as I was a bit unsure of what I was doing and they were very helpful. I then printed off my share details and sent them to DLRP.
I received a paper membership form within a couple of weeks, which was then followed by the official membership card another couple of weeks later. I wasn't in a hurry so the waiting time wasn't a problem for me. I am sure you can fax or email them your details if you need to speed up the process a bit.

Hi horseradish and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

When I registered although it was on-line I had to phone first to transfer money into my share account. Once the funds had cleared I then phoned up to complete the first transaction. Subsequently I've been able to buy additional shares on-line :)
