I have always traveled with DS in manual chair, however was curious with regard to differences with a power chair and accessible rides? For example Buzz and Under the Sea, do you "freewheel" or drive yourself on, or do you transfer to manual chair. Can a power chair be used on IASW?

I used a powerchair on the equivalent rides at Disneyland without a problem. It does require to be able to drive very carefully/well on the Disneyland versions of the rides, so if he is not comfortable driving on, you can either push him (depending on the wheelchair), or use the manual chair they should have available at the ride.

Does your son already use a power chair? If not, it may be difficult to find a company to rent one, as they are notoriously hard to drive unless you are an experienced user. I believe it has something to do with the sensitivity of the stick that maneuvers the chair.

Thank you very much for the responses. Yes we do have power chair, and he is very good at it. My worry would be that he is too cautious or slow in a Disney sense. We will continue with manual chair for as long as possible.
