Hey All,

My fiance and I have a concern and we are looking to leverage the vast knowledge of the members on these boards...

We recently got engaged a couple of months ago and we just set the date for our wedding Sept 27, 2013. We are very excited and we are already starting to think about our Disneymoon! We are doing a week in Disney followed by a week in the Caribbean.

We already know we want to stay at the BWV since we just did 8 nights there and loved every minute of it. This is where the problem lies... We own DVC at SSR therefore could only book BWV at the 7 month window. The first week of our honeymoon lands smack dab in the middle of F&W festival, therefore we are worried about availability at BWV at 7 months.

This is where the advice is needed. Is there any way/have people ever traded points or sold/bought their own points in order to change their home resort and gain the 11 month window option? I would think it could be easy to do a straight trade with another member 1:1 who may not be as concerned about booking at 11 months therefore their home resort does not matter.

Any advice or ways to go about doing this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Scott

From time to time I've wondered about trades myself, but I doubt very much if someone would trade BWV for SSR. I hope so for you.

it can happen - that's why the rent/trade board is called that. but it's very rare.

I would think it could be easy to do a straight trade with another member 1:1 who may not be as concerned about booking at 11 months therefore their home resort does not matter.

i would think most BWV members would expect more if they were booking a high demand period for you. but inability to arrive at a "fair" trade is one reason most of the reservations are paid for in cash.

the other issue is that you can only do one transfer per year, either in or out but not both. so one of you would generally travel first, meaning the later travelling member would need a lot of trust that their reservation will still be there.

IMO your best option is to rent a BWV reservation for cash and then rent your pts for cash if you need to recover at least most of what you paid...

I second Chalee94's approach. You could pay to rent from someone with BWV points and rent you points out to "pay for it". The other option, you may find some one who will transfer BWV points into your account and again pay for it by renting your points. The second option is the easiest, since you would control the reservation, but it is probably harder to find sone one willing to transfer.

That's actually the beginning of the food & wine festival. This year it starts on September 28. I think you will have a good chance for pool/garden view, people book more in October. I agree with booking a cash reservation as a backup, 2013 rates should be coming out soon.

For such an important occasion my suggestion would be that at the 11 month mark you either rent BWV points or have BWV points transferred to your account and then rent out your SSR points. For your SSR points you can get $10 using a broker or $11 renting them out yourself. Then you only have to pay the difference but know that you will be staying where you want.

If you are not already super heavy on points, AND you would feel like you missed out without BWV. I would transfer in BWV points and use 11 month window.

You would pay some where near 10- 12$ a point and get exactly what you want.

There is nearly zero chance someone will trade for SSR. There is just not much of a 11 month window needed. Borderline the treehouse villas.. but I think some of that excitement died off when charts changed.
