I need some advice on how to approach this problem. I interviewed at a company a couple of weeks ago. The HR person advised me that I would be contacted either way with a decision. A few days after the interview I received a letter. The wording of the letter was cryptic in nature. It was worded as if no one knew I had already had an interview. I sent her an e-mail regarding the letter. No answer to my e-mail. Last week I called and left a voice mail message, no response. Yesterday I called the person that set up the interview for me. Her name was mentioned during the interview as the person that would possibly call me regarding the decision. She said she had heard nothing about the decision and suggested I call the person that interviewed me. So, I called her again yesterday. Still no response from her. So, my question is what should I do next? I guess I am just upset that I have had no response to my phone calls. Am I expecting to much to hope that she would have the courtesy to call me back? Should I just say forget about it and not even bother calling her again? Send her another e-mail? Any advice would be most greatly appreciated. Sorry for the post being so longwinded. But, this was a company that I felt really good about working for and would have liked to have been offered the job. I guess to that my self-esteem is taking a beating over this issue. There are five positions opened and to think that even with five positions opened that I can't get a job just bruises even further an already bruised self worth.

honestly, I would move on. Try not to take it personally, in many cases someone more qualified, or someone already working at the company, is chosen. It would be nice if the person you interviewed with would return your calls...that is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Any chance you can go to work for a competitor?

Situations like that really make me angry. Last year I interviewed for an paraprofessional position at the school my dd will be attending this next school year. I had a great interview and the teacher that lived next to me even said that they were really impressed with me..I sent a thank you letter to the principal and then I never heard a single word from them. Later in the summer I sent a follow-up letter to let them know that if something else came open I would still be interested and I still heard nothing. This principal just received an award for being the top elem principal in the state. HA!

Most likely the letter you received was your goodbye letter. These usually are very cryptic in nature, and you're not receiving any call-backs, since they aren't going to offer you a job. Don't let it bother you, even though you probably will. A lot of times, companies HAVE to interview outside canidates for a position, before filling them with internal people. They just go through the motions, and then send out the rejection letters. I wish you luck on your job search!!
