Advice needed please.

Hi-im looking at booking OKW next year for a 2 week stay.
Have worked out my points and it looks as though i will fall short by 38 points.
I could stay elsewhere for a couple of nights but we will have alot of family staying at OKW so we really want to spend our time there.
Can anyone suggest the best solution to our problem,i dont know whether to look into renting points or if disney would let me pay for the extra points on a cash booking.
Any advice will be most welcome

Disney will rent you up to 24 one time use points to use at the 7 month window, but that would probably also require 1or 2 additional cash nights..

So if i take the 24 points from disney and then rent the points for 1 night would we have to move from our villa for the 1 night we have rented-would be a pain to have to move villas for our last night?

If you're a few points shy for a night, it makes sense to purchase one-time points from DVC. However, at 38 points, it sounds as if you'd be better off getting at least one night at the cash rate from Member Services. You might be able to get the 25% DVC discounted rate if you're lucky (it's hit or miss depending on the resort and date).

Member Services can combine points and cash nights under the same reservation, so you wouldn't need to check-out/check-in.

For one night, I don't think the nominal savings would be worth the hassle of a rental. Unless you could find someone willing to transfer you the exact 38 points you need, you would have a separate reservation for that night.

Some amplification...

Member services can combine points and cash under the same reservation, but each night has to be either 100% points or 100 cash. If you are a few points shy for a night, Member Services will sell you one-time points (up to 24 in a use year). These are expensive, though: $15 per point.

I'd recommend looking up the night in question on DisneyWorld.com to see what the room rate is. Then do the math.

You don't mention the season or room size you're looking at, so I'll use a general example instead of your specific case.

A two-bedroom at OKW in Magic season is 48 points for a Saturday night. If you have less than 48 points available after all banking and borrowing is considered, at what point is is more economical to purchase a cash night instead of using one-time-use points?

Cash Room Price: $355
(cheaper to buy the cash room if you need 24 one-time-use points: 24 x $15 = $360)

Cash Room Price w/ 25% DVC discount: $266
(cheaper to buy the cash room if you need 18 or more points: 18 x $15 = $270)

Of course, this simple equation doesn't take into account the fact that when purchasing the cash night, some number of your points become available for banking to a future trip if you're within your banking deadline.
