Advice needed on designing Fantasy Pins

We have formed a small, but growing pin trading club and have been designing a logo for a Fantasy pin and perhaps T-shirts. The dilema comes in trying to design a pin that has a Disney "feel" to it, without copyright infringement. Mickey's hand has been overused, and is not a consideration. We want to use a small silhoutte of Mickey's head and ears within the logo, but are afraid of legal repercusions with the "Mouse".

Does anyone know what the limitation of what CAN and what CAN'T be used?

The trouble is the copyrights... I know of a few people who have gotten in trouble for making certain designs. As for the hands... I agree they are getting a little over done. Good luck in what ever design you do use or come up with ....
