Advice needed on Banking points

I am really having problems understanding the banking system, I just cannot get my head around it.

My use month is September and we have not used last September 2009-2010 points yet. I think I understand that I need to bank my points in April (i.e. now eek) for use after the following September.

My question is, if I bank my points now, what if I decide I really can afford a trip to Disney in either July or August, will I be able to use my banked points?

Hi,

My understanding is that banking (and borrowing for that matter) are final transactions. If you were to bank your points into the next use year starting Sept 2010 they would be there permanently, they can't be borrowed back into 2009-2010 or banked again. You would always have the option of borrowing from 2010-2011 if you did decide to go this year.

From the DVC members site:

In months 1-8 of your current Use Year you can bank up to 100% of your Vacation Points for use in the following year; you cannot bank Vacation Points in months 9-12.

Which I think means that since you, like myself, have a September UY yes you'll need to bank before the end of April.

Yes, Tina, you would need to bank your 2009-2010 points by 30th April 2010 and those points would then need to be used by no later than 31st August 2011.

If you decided you could afford a holiday, you would have the option of borrowing 2010-2011 points but don't forget that banking and borrowing are final transactions and so if you borrowed points and then couldn't go, you would have to use them by August 31st this year.
