Thinking of Universal for next February since DH and I have tickets to Universal that we have never used! We would be with 5 year old DD. Are there enough rides for the smaller set at Universal, or should we wait until she is older? What hotel would everyone recommend with a 5 year old if we are going with her?

This is the link from the Universal Orlando website. There are more rides than this, this is just for kids.

Have a look through and see what she would like to go on. The website has a list of all rides and maps of the park layout.......and it lists height restrictions if this is applicable for your daughter.

As for hotels, they're all suitable for children. Choose a theme you like and pick from there. Again, the website has info.

Also the hotel stickies on these boards have stickies with loads of pictures of all the hotels. Maybe help a little.

We started taking ours when our youngest son just turned 5 (ten years ago...we are usually there on his birthday, or miss it by a day or two each year). He is fearless, so he wanted on every ride he could ride...turned out to be plenty for them to ride and do (animal show, parade, characters, Camp Jurassic, and more). He loved it then and loves it now.

DS was 5 on his first trip last summer, and had a blast! (Even said he liked it more than WDW). His favorites were: Minion Mayhem, Transformers, MIB, Camp Jurassic, and Flight of the Hippogriff. There were really only a handful of rides he couldn't do, and plenty to entertain him.

I took my son when he was 3 or 4 I think. He took one look at the Hulk and said, "I want to ride THAT!!!!" LOL. FINALLY last trip, he was tall enough. Been a thrill-lover always. Anyway, we had an awesome trip even that first time. I think we rode the Ride in the Sky (or whatever it's called) in Suessland a thousand times in a row. For his fifth birthday, we went back and he had a lot of fun then too. I still remember my first trip to Disney at age 4. I think kids love anything. <3
