Advice needed... Adults only trip and no fp+ experience

Dh and I are thinking about an adults only trip in June while our kids are visiting their grandparents overseas... We have been to WDW many times with our kids, but we have not been back since fp+ was implemented. Our touring style then was rope drop commando, gathering as many fast passes as possible! We loved being able to go on loads of rides, even with a swim/rest in the afternoon.

Thinking about an adult only trip brings questions.... I think we might like to sleep in some/most days, hang by the pool, and go to the parks in the evening. Are we wasting time to get more fast passes by having all of them scheduled for the evening? We would also be able to do things like Hoop Dee Doo, which our kids have never been interested in! How will that work with fp+??? I've been reading threads about how to best utilize/maximize fp+ but just don't know what works best.

If you have taken an adult only trip, what worked for you??? What did you enjoy doing that might be different than a trip with kids... Any help/advice would be appreciated!

I think the new FP+ is perfect for a more laid back trip. Then you can sleep in with no guilt, haha. Go when you want and know you've got your top 3 things scheduled for each day. Takes the pressure off so you can relax and enjoy. I think the bulk of the headliners (esp ones not at MK) will be really hard to get a 4th and beyond FP. So I wouldn't worry about it too much. Maybe take advantage of late EMHs if there are some things you don't have time or don't want to wait in line for during the day. Enjoy!

FP+ will be perfect for you. Without getting there at rope drop you probably will miss out on the short standby lines that will continuously build throughout the day. You can still get at least your top three attractions and have a more leisure time. However, if you goal is to ride everything, then I'd still recommend being at the front of the line at rope drop.

FP+ has nothing whatsoever to do with Hoo Dee Doo.
HDDR is a dinner show at Fort Wilderness that requires a separate dining reservation (ADR) which you can make 180 days out. Note that dinner shows generally require full payment when the reservation is made.

Thanks for your replies... I'm not sure what our ultimate goal is.... Besides having an awesome time!

If we do decide to go at rope drop on a certain day, is it best to get your fast passes for late morning so they can be used as the crowds build and then try to get another for the evening???

Thanks! I was just bringing up that we would be able to plan differently because we only need to please ourselves instead of 3 boys who would poke their eyes out before sitting through a show!!! Lol

I realize after I reread what I wrote that it looked like I thought that fp was connected to Hoop Dee Doo!!!

I would do them late morning so that I can try to do some short standby lines first. I also try to do them close together so that I can use them and them go to a kiosk and get more FPs to use later. However, I don't usually have success I getting a 4th or 5th FP for anything I actually need it for.

I've been taking adult only trips since my son grew up, he is 35 now and we've been going since he was 3. We find that we concentrate less on rides and more on just seeing and being there now. I will do FP but usually we don't even book it until at least a week before. We are never in a hurry and while we ride rides if we miss some its no big deal. My son likes to sleep in, I'm an early riser so I tend to get up and enjoy the quiet of the resort, if he is still asleep when I'm ready to go, I'll just head over to whatever park we are planning on doing that day and hang out. We love Epcot and HS so tend to spend most of our time at those parks, we actually go to WS at least once every day if only to eat or grab a wine flight somewhere.
