Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has booked a HAH with an AP rate. Did you feel you got a good deal? We are going Sept 30-Oct 1 and are looking at a HAH. I have heared good things about renting points and bad (like they sent the member a check and the check got cash and no ressie was made! :sad2: ) I know our faithful friends here on the boards are good upstanding people, but you never know! So, should I look into renting or hope for an AP rate. That is the tail end of value season so we hope to get a good deal. Any opinioneither way is more than welcomed!! :goodvibes

I guess it depends on which would be cheaper. I have rented points and never had a problem. If you decide to rent, look for a renter that has been on the DIS for awhile, not someone who just registered yesterday & has 1 post by their name. Also, I would not pay the full amount until you have the res. confrimation in your hands. The man I rented from mailed me the confirmation, I called the DVC # every month or so to make sure everything was still good.

I'm renting for the second time right now for my October trip. Last year it went smoothly with the DIS'r and this year, so far so good. I should get my comfirmation any day now. :hourglass

Renting will likely only be cheaper if you book during the week. BC/BCV rooms typically go for about $200+/night during value season and I know it's more than that to rent. Granted AP rates haven't been that great this year, so I don't know what Sept will be like.

DVC'rs plan 7 or 11 months ahead, and if you decide to rent and get an Epcot-area resort, you need to book asap. If you are open to any HAFH resort, you probably have some time to decide. But AP rates for Sept-Oct won't come out til mid-late summer and that's really pushing it time-wise.

Good luck!

Thanks Big Al! That is what I thought. I have been crunching some #'s nad I can't tell what would be better! I guess I could always book a HAFH and then cancel if the rates don't come out. We were just looking for a HAFH because we will be there for 9 days and I would love to have a microwave and coffee maker. Not to mention individual laundry units. I just have an issue with the big mass washer and dryers!

So you want a 1-bedroom? Which resort? The price I quoted before was for a regular size room vs a studio. 1-bedrooms are a bit higher in both respects...

When we stayed at BCV (studio) one afternoon I ran down one flight of stairs and did my laundry. It was free :goodvibes and no one was using the facility. I imagine some of the other resorts would be more crowded, especially at night. I guess no one is hanging at the resort at 4 pm. :confused3

I think we are going to shoot for a studio. Just can't seem to come off of the extra $ for the 1 bdrm. I just called CRO and the lovely CM (Desdimona ! :rotfl: ) Said she had plenty of studios avail. for both BWV and BCV. She did warn me that BWV are still undergoing renovations and there may be some pipe noise between 9-5.

One thing to consider when renting points for one of the DVC resorts is that the point usage is much higher on Fri/Sat nights. Renting points Sun-Thur nights can be a great deal but when we tack on the Fri and/or Sat it really makes the cost go up.
You might come out better, if you can get an AP rate, to pay cash for the Fri/Sat night and use the points Sun-Thur night or stay at another resort for those couple of nights.
