Advice for watching FOF and quickly exiting

We want to watch FOF but want to get out of the park immediately following the parade. What is the best spot to watch from and exit strategy to leave the park the earliest we can?

Watch it from the outside of the circle (near Tony's restaurant or near City Hall). That way, as the last float goes by, you can head to the exit (and monorail) without having to wait to cross the street.
