I'm gathering information for a friend of mine whose husband is slowly losing his vision. The last surgery has returned enough vision for him to et around and she wants to take him to disney.
Which onsite hotels would you recommend in the value category?
I know the DVC resorts but have no experience with All stars, CB,
Port Orleans etc..

Thanks for the help.

All Star Sports, Music and Movies are all value resorts on site. They each have themes related to what they are named. Giant icons are all around and they are really neat to see. The movies have Toy Story with giant Buzz and Andy's room, for example. The Music has giant boots for one icon. Someone probably has a link for pictures?? The rooms are smaller in size but plently of room for 2 people. They have a food court with many options as well.

We stayed at All-Stars Music in early August. With a Disney Club discount, I paid $415 for 4 nights in their preferred building Calypso. The All-Stars would probably be good for them as everything is pretty flat, no stairs. The buildings with the rooms do have elevators. The sidewalks are nice and wide and I am sure he probably still has enough vision to pick up the difference between dark flower beds and the light colored sidewalk. In situations where he would need to hold on to her arm, he should do so just above her elbow and be about 1/2-1 step behind her. This would give him time to stop if she did and easily follow her body movements. Some lighting environments may require him to need the above method called sighted guide. Of course, they might like to hold hands as many couples do at WDW. The food court at ASMu was very good. Everything we bought there was good. Entrees seem to run from $6-$10 dollars. The Oriental salad I got was actually big enough for 2 people. The food court was well staffed if she feels she would need to sit him first and then order and pick up their food. I am sure that someone there would help her get the food to the table if she would explain the situation.

The CBR is very nice if you enjoy a tropical theme. The rooms a slightly larger than the other moderates and I think almost as big as the BC/YC standard rooms. They also have a nice beach with hammocks and swings on them. It is a very nice moderate resort. I really liked it as much as some of the deluxe resorts we have stayed in. They are revamping the food court but it is not as nice as the All Stars food court. They have a sit down restaurant in the food court area .

Thanks Simplaw. The lighting is very important. My DH is visually impaired and our last trip to WLV was a nightmare. Very dark, and poor ground lighting. I think Allstar Music is probably the way to go for them.

If anyone has pictures of the rooms I would appreciate them.
