I think my family and I have decided on the HoJo for sure for next fall (November). When is the latest we should book to be sure of the type of room we need/want? My mom loves to leave things until the last minute, but I would hate to be scrambling.

Well, they don't charge ahead of time for reservations, so there's absolutely no harm in making such a reservation. I don't know if you're totally dependent on your mom to make the reservation (like if you're a teen vs adult), but if you are legally able to make a reservation you might as well, whenever a good rate shows up.

If you think you'll have the Entertainment Card for that time (oh wow, it would be the 2011 book by then, as they expire/start over in the month of November) you'd want to check here for when/if your dates show up. Though actually they let you change a previously-made reservation to that rate.

And if you guys need info on the Ent Card, here is HoJo's explanation!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it's been a few years since I booked the HoJo. Do they charge your credit card a deposit when you make your reservation (online or over the phone)? This will help me to decide if I make our ressie now or wait a few weeks.

Thanks :goodvibes

No, they don't. Nothing will be charged to your credit card until you check out. The credit card # is only used to hold the ressie.

Well when you check in they will do a pre-authorisation, and a hold of $5. per day for things like the phone etc. then when you check out, they do the actual charge. and you have until 48 hours prior to check in to cancel your resie! :)

Well...I TRIED to get a room (kids suite) about 8 wks in advance & ONE day was not available....so we're going to DI&S again. I was bummed.

Thanks for the replies! My mom will be making the reservations, because technically she can get the senior discount (although she hates to admit it!). I just dont' want to leave it too long. We just haven't decided on the actual dates yet.

When we stayed there in October they put a hold on my card upon checking in for the full amount plus the $5 per day for incidentals.

Did you have a problem with DI and S the last time you stayed there?

Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but having just had a quick look on the HoJo site, it appears that the senior discount is 10%. If this is the case, then you can actually get a better rate for all dates by phoning them and asking for what seems to be called the "Disney Fan Discount" - basically by stating that you're a member of DISBoards. The Disney Fan Discount is 15% :goodvibes

When we went in May they held the amount before the discount and then when we checked out they took the amount after the discount. Just so you know. :flower3:

That's worth repeating; it was also my instinct when I saw mention of the Senior rate. :)

Plus, the Entertainment Book rate is stupendously good...what is it now? Starting at 59/night?

Ent. Rate starts at 59.

Disboards rate 15% off rack rate.

AP holder rate 20% off rack rate.

vs

AAA:: 10% discount off of our room rates.

AARP:: 10% discount off of our room rates.

Senior Discount:: 10% discount off of our room rates.

Government Employee:: 10% discount off of our room rates.

Military Personnel:: 10% discount off of our room rates.

CSEA:: 15% discount off of our room rates.

You get a discount for being on the Disboards???:cool1:

When we went last November, I was able to get the entertainment rate for 5 of our 7 nights. I bought the entertainment card off of ebay for $6 before we left. You only need the card, you don't need the book. For $6, I saved a LOT of money!

Let me ask a question about the Ent Card. Do they scan it, or just ask to look at it? What do they actually do with the imfamous card?

We were just there and when I checked into the hotel they took the card behind the desk with them along with my credit card. I was not tall enough to see over the desk:rotfl2: so I have no idea what they did with the card, but I got my fantastic rate.

They gave me back my Entertainment Card along with my Credit Card at the end of check in.
