Advice for some Intermediate Pin Traders

OK, I don't think we're beginners. DD and I have been buying and trading pins for almost two years. Of course, that's just on our trips to WDW, we've only been to three pin trading meets while there. We are going again May 25 - June 7, and another trip (I hope) Aug. 2-12. Our major plan this time is to attend the Thursday night meets at All Stars, one we hear is good and haven't tried yet. I am a little gun-shy about trading, though DD is fearless. I have made some trades at WDW that I have discovered were pretty unfair trades when I got home, so I kind of look around to see who looks "nice". DD will walk up to anyone and start looking through their books. If she sees something she likes, she'll drag our "good" book over there, and I follow it. Any guidance you can offer? How do we tell the nice traders from the sharks? Obviously, they don't wear white and black hats!

The other question would be how to know when surprise pins are being released. Since we are usually out of touch with the internet when in WDW, will asking CM's at maybe Epcot Pin Central or Disney Traders do any good?

Have a great trip... The best way to trade is to trade for what you like. What one person considers fair another will not. I trade for what I like and use what ever pins it takes to get them. I have learned one thing and that is what is hot now will not be later on except for a few exceptions but the ones I traded for that I like.. I still like.

We took a wireless laptop on our last vacation in hopes of catching any bulletins on surprise pins. however, the best made plans and all......the computer died on our car trip down to WDW! My DD overheated it, no doubt, playing Sims Online. When we were there a couple months before that, I missed 2 mystery releases, and nobody at WDW let on that they were out.

If you want the inside "scoop" on Surprise releases try to get in the "inner circle" the you'll get all the perks!!

There are more then 700 of us who live down here full time, and we have a network set up...who ever finds out about a surprise pin release, gets on the phone, and we contact everyone near the parks..The one that does the alerting, automatically gets one of the pins, even if the one buying the pins can only get 2, he/she gives one to that person..

We have given our home and cell phones to each other, and pass it on....

The other "surprise" is that you don't have to be in the mysterious "inner circle" to qualify...Woo Hoo......

My suggestion when you are out of town would be to have someone at home be on the dizpins alert....and they find out right away when a pin is released ..by email..and they can call you in the parks and tell you where it is....most often the other CM in the parks don't know about the pins, unless they are directly associated w/ the release, or a guest mentions it to them..

When we are there, I give our cell phone numbers to two or three who I can contact or would contact me. JudithM is always at the top of my list.
