Tonight we are going to see Fantasmic with BB package and stay for fireworks. I would like to get back to GC ASAP since we are still fighting east coast time, so what would you all suggest?? Little afraid of crowds because don't want to get separated from DD. Thanks for the help!

Hi, I have only seen the fireworks from the hub so I don't have specific info for you but the huge crowds of people the two nights I was there don't move very fast. No one is in a huge hurry (or at least the hundreds of people near me weren't) so it's not a crush. I can see how it COULD be a crush but that hasn't been my experience. We found one night it was faster walking down Main Street, the other night it was faster on the sidewalks. Everyone veers to the right exits so I would head to the left as well.

Have fun!

Are you going to watch fireworks from ROA? Take the path behind BTMRR, go through Fantasyland and take the monorail. You'll walk farther, you might wait longer, but you'll avoid Main St.

Just know it's going to take some time to get back to GCH. No matter what you do summer is in full gear now and there is no way it will be "fast" to exit the park after the fireworks.

This is most "effective" if you looking to avoid crowds and save walking (and have a fun experience riding the Monorail after dark). You will trade a few extra minutes of time waiting for the Monorail. Monorail is as much a ride as transportation. I love riding after dark. Great people watching.

I agree with gottalovepluto. In the summer there is no quick exit. I would actually say wait and hang out for maybe 15 minutes or so after fireworks has ended and walk around the shops or hit Haunted Mansion one more time then go. We got stuck trying to leave Fantasmic in the HUGE crowd of people after everything ended and it got scary with my two small kids with me. We were packed in like sardines and moving like a school of fish. If someone fell it could have gotten really dangerous.

I had the same experience. I wondered what would happen if someone had a heart attack. I have never watched Fantasmic again.

I agree that there is no quick exit because pretty much everyone is trying to leave the area at the same time. You could wait about 15-20 minutes until after the initial surge of people before trying to leave. Look through the Frontierland, Adventureland, or New Orleans shops, or ride Pirates again. For those leaving the area traffic is funneled through Adventureland and once you are on Main Street you can walk down the middle of the street, through the shops (they will be crowded) or if the bypass is open it is between Jolly Holiday and Coke Refreshment Corner and will bring you out next to the Fire House & City Hall.

Don't they ever use the new corridor behind the east-side main street shops to evacuate crowds?
I thought this kind of thing was just what it was for.

I've used the Monorail trick before, from TM. While it may not have been faster, it was certainly a more pleasant way to end the evening.

Grab a snack or take one last ride on Haunted Mansion or Pirates (usually with little to no wait). Let the first wave of people leave. So less stressful and you really will not lose much time.

Thanks for the suggestions! We walked on Pooh, got the train at NOS, and were in the hotel room by 10:40!!

Just a heads up, the path between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland is frequently closed for 15-20 mins after fireworks due to clearing the ash after Mountwannahockaloogie goes off. We hung out at the Hub after fireworks, then headed out after 15 mins and were back in the room by 1045.

Glad you found a quick way out! One thing we've done before is to watch the fireworks from the front of the Main Street Train Station. You are back a ways, but you can start making your way to the exit as the finale is still going off and get out the exit fairly quickly.
