We are looking at a contract for 150 points with RIV as our home resort. However, we very much enjoy staying at BC (haven't stayed at BCV yet). My questions are:

1. How hard is it to get a one-bedroom at BCV at 7 months out in the early spring or late/July to mid-August (we'd carry over points to have enough)?

2. Can I get 100 points at RIV direct and 50 at BCV via resale and have the home resort benefits at BCV (not sure if there's a minimum for BCV).

Any other advice other than buying from BCV directly (wanted something longer than 18 years).

You could buy BCV resale instead of direct. Still expires at the same time though.

If you buy 50 at BCV, you get the 11 month booking priority with those 50 points. You don’t get to combine it with other non-BCV points.

Resale Riviera points cannot be used at BCV. Direct can be used at 7 months.

Points carry the home resort priority so RiV points are good at RiV during 7 to 11 mp this and BCV points are good at BCV at 7 to 11 months.

Direct RIv can be used everywhere at 7 months. BCV resale points can not be used at RIV, VDH, and CFW, and potentially future resorts.

BCV is very popular and while 1 bedrooms would be easier to get than other rooms sizes, if that is where you want to stay, it might be better to buy BCV even with the shorter contract length.

Now, if you are happy with RIVif you can’t get BCV, then it can be a good buy.

Ah, that's very helpful to know. I was thinking I'd be able to use the the full amount of points from both contracts at 11 months at BCV. Glad I asked and thank you. q

No, other wise we’d all buy a ton of SSR points and stay all over, & there would be no home resort priority.
Definitely think about where you want to stay and how many points it’ll cost.

BC is hard to predict. We like to stay there in the Fall so we bought a 55 point contract to stay over other year for 5 nights in a studio. We've found the Fall is the definite time a home advantage is needed to stay at BC.

Back when we first joined DVC we purchased the minimum at one place and 100 point contract at another. We made it work for the first 4 years before adding on at BC.

Right now 100 points is the minimum number you can buy as a new member direct, however, you will not get member benefits until you buy 150 direct points, thus you are able to buy 100 direct at Riviera, you just won’t get member discounts, access to member lounges, etc..
W/ BC resale, your challenge will likely be finding a 50 point contract, it’s a small resort to begin w/ & small contracts are even harder to find.
One thing you could do is buy your small resale BC contract first, then add on at Riviera direct, w/ that scenario DVC will match your BC use year (having both contracts in the same use year means you don’t have to mess w/ transferring points to book a reservation using points from both contracts or worry about different banking deadlines) & you’d get the member discount on the Riviera contract purchase.
You can bank & borrow the 50 BC points to have 150 points for an 11 month BC booking every 3 years & meantime use your Riviera points in the other years at 11 months to book at Riviera & then at 7 months try to modify those stays to BC.
If it were me & I really only wanted to stay at the BC, I’d likely just buy enough resale BC points to stay there. However, if I liked staying at the Riviera but wanted an occasional guarenteed stay at the BC, then I’d go w/ your 50/100 strategy. If I liked staying at the Riv., wanted direct member benefits, & was willing to gamble that I could occasionally modify an 11 month Riviera booking to BC at 7 months then I’d go w/ 150 direct at Riviera. Note, if BWVs would be an acceptable alternative to BC, it’s a larger resort & the pool/preferred views are more often available at 7 months except during the fall/holidays.
