Advice for College Freshmen

What kind of advice? Shopping advice? Roommate advice (I could write a book on one year's worth of experiences on that one  )? Making friends? Dorm life?
Sorry, your question is just really broad

I only have one piece of advice: you can always retake a class, but you can never relive a party or weekend with the friends you will make. The friends you make in college will most likely me the people to stick by you in life, enjoy them and every minute of college, these are the best years of your life.

while you can retake a class, don't retake it too many times. if you plan on going to grad school, all those dropped classes will show up on your transcript, and well....it doesn't look good.

some good advice:
- don't get a credit card. if you do, only buy things that will be there when your statement is in (ie, no gas, groceries, etc). and when you do buy something on it...pay it in full at the end of the month
- stay on top of your school stuff. if you get behind, it makes it that much harder in the end
- if you don't know what you want to major in...it's okay! take a couple of classes that meet your general interests and then decide from there. don't worry about getting a degree that you can "use the most". just worry about taking classes that you enjoy!
- get involved! find something that you enjoy and join a group for it. don't just go to class and go home. go out, and meet people. it makes college so much more fun!
- remember that friends may come and go but your family will always be there for you....keep in touch with them!

I guess that's all i have for now...lol...I'll get off my pedestal. Hope that helped!!

This is so true. I was not very good about keeping in touch with my sister while I was at school. To put it mildly it has really come back to bite me in the butt since I got home. Don't just keep in touch with parents; keep in touch with the siblings too
And yes, having fun is important, but you or your parents are paying a lot for your education. You won't be completely shunned if you don't go out every night.
If you have problems with your roommate, tell them. It'll make your life easier, even if all it does is just get the problem out in the open. It doesn't always help (sometimes problems are beyond resolvable), but getting it out in the open helps.

Put in a constant effort as if it was a job (staying away from distractions during that time). When it's time to have fun, have fun!

Find students who are one or two years ahead of you in the same area of study and ask questions (about everything). Good luck, and enjoy it!
