we are going to go to Mk on Jan 17 Sat in the evening basically just to see the parade and wishes...i know it will be crowded, am planning on attractions during first parade and seeing the second. want to do this since we are never in Mk that late due to early closing( I know, might live to regret it ) and haven't seen spectro since long long ago( hence foggy memory of night parade particulars)are also planning on them at less busy times so spectacular viewing spots are not #1.

sooo any tips on how to surf around the crowds or what ever ,that I might need to know due to the crowds since we usually do not have to worry so much about that during V. season? what time would it be good to arrive at Mk? I was thinking after dinner like maybe 7or so but do not want to get trapped on Main St. by the first parade people lining up( starts at 8)and do most just stay seated/standing after parade 1 till wishes starts? so what time would we have to get a spot for that( starts at 9)? and during parade 1 will any sections be better to go into than others? I was thinking tomorrow land but would like to hit splash and btm also since we do not do those at night usually.
Thanks

Bumping this back to page one so that some of our veterans can offer advice about this.

We're planning the same strategy! We're doing AK all day Sat and were planning to get to MK late for the late Spectro as well. Let's hope someone has some great ideas for crowd strategy and viewing!!

You sound confident that there will be lots of people. (I hope you are wrong!) Have they always stayed open late on the Sat of MLK weekend? We've gone before in Jan and there no crowds, but not on MLK weekend.

Don't have a lot to offer but thought I'd comment re your concern that you might "get trapped on on Main St. by the first parade people lining up".

In my experience, the CMs do a good job of keeping walkways and crosswalks open for those who are just passing through. It might be slower going than you'd like, but you should be able to get where you are going.

Since you are planning to do other things during the first parade, my advice would be to take the train to either Adventyurland or Toontown (depending on where you want to end up). That way, you will miss most of the crowd waiting for the parade.

Enjoy your trip!

I read that January is one of the least crowded times. I hope that goes for this year too. We wanted to go to MK on January 27th cause thats the day its open the latest but also the day of Spectro and Wishes. We are not watching the Spectro Parade because we saw it in October. We'll do some rides while everyones watching the parade. Maybe just catch the fireworks.

We'll be there over MLK weekend, too. Does anyone know if there'll be a good place to stay put and watch both the parade and the fireworks (in either order)? I'll be in an ECV with only my DD7 and don't want to risk losing her if the crowds are too hard to navigate. I'm worried because I saw that they close at 7 every other night, but stay open to 10 on MKL Saturday (just guessing that that means big crowds). Actually, I've only ever been to WDW in the summer, so maybe I'm worrying about nothing--a crowd in Jan might be quite light compared to a day in mid June or August. Would anyone advise me about crowd levels/viewing locations? Thank you so much!

p.s., the ecv rental guy said that he's never noticed a bump in rentals over MLK weekend, so i'm hoping this is good news. princess:
