Advice for block out day

I need expert advice. We made reservations for Dapper Day weekend a very long time ago and then bought Deluxe passes in Sept last year. It didn't occur to us that the Sat would be blocked out until recently. To buy one day tickets is over $600 for the four of us. We could upgrade the passes but that's $300 each and it's only good until Sept, right? Can anyone think of another option? Otherwise, we're looking at a pool day and character meals.

If you purchase one day, one park tickets, you are looking at $476. The pool day/character meals/shopping sounds fun to me. I like having a day off while I am there.

Pool day/Rest day/Disney dining day. That's what we usually do. Your post seems a little disappointed with that option, but we've always had a good time on our rest days.

Correct...you're AP would have the same expiration date even if you upgrade them.

While I think it would be fun to go to the parks, given the price, I would also opt for a non-parks day. It might be a good chance to explore the hotels, DTD, and some of the surrounding areas.

You can do a day at Knott's. It usually only costs about $40 for an advance purchase ticket.

I'm increasing your costs (vs pool day), but if you're Harry Potter fans you could hit Universal Hollywood for that day.

Looks like pool day. Always fun. It's just a long ways (6 hour drive) for only Sunday in the parks. But, there's a lot at Downtown Disney that we always say "later" to the kids about. Good chance to go.
