Advice for a newbie

Hey! I hope I am posting this in the right place. I am just dipping my toe into the DVC world so please feel free to re-direct me to a better place to ask this question if I am posting in the wrong place!

I am looking at renting DVC points for a ******** trip. Where is the best place to get a great price on renting points?

Also, what type of trip insurance do you recommend and where do you recommend getting it? With most DVC being no cancellation, I feel it's necessary just in case.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Hi, and welcome to the DVC Boards. You may reply with your rental dates, desired resort and room type into any of the existing Points for Rent threads on our DVC Rent/Trade Board. While DVCers can pay an annual insurance fee for travel insurance, it does not apply to rentals. You would need to contact a travel insurance company like Travel Guard to insure your trip.

You can also request a rental by contacting a rental broker, such as our Rent/Trade Board advertise, David's Rentals.

As far as price for a rental, that is a private negotiation between you and the DVC Owner.

Just a reminder that we do not allow any travel specifics, such as dates, room type, and so forth, to be posted anywhere except the Rent/Trade Board. But as a quick comment on the travel period you did list, it is a very popular time for DVC travel and resort select may already be a little bit limited.

One more hint. Avoid any private messages or e-mails from people offering you DVC for rent unless you contacted them first. The Dis Moderators have asked everyone who gets these types of messages to let them know so they can help avoid any scams.
